Gaga to play Cleopatra

There’s a rumour going around online that Gaga has signed on to play the iconic Queen of Egypt in a new film directed by Denis Villeneuve. The visionary filmmaker behind Dune, Dune: Part Two, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the upcoming James Bond reboot.

While talks about this project have circulated before, the rumour has resurfaced again, which makes me think there might be some truth to it this time. The latest buzz is apparently coming from a reliable insider on Awards Watch, a well-known and respected cinema forum that has a strong track record of accurately predicting casting news and industry decisions.

Personally, I’d love to see it happen. If this is true, I think it could be Gaga’s best role and movie yet. Villeneuve is a director I completely trust, and his ability to combine spectacle with great storytelling would make for an unforgettable portrayal of such a legendary historical figure. 

While I know Cleopatra’s ethnicity and background often spark debate, I think this project with Villeneuve’s vision and Gaga’s talent has the potential to rise above the controversy. 

Fun-fact: Gaga also told Vogue that this would be her dream role.

That would be absolutely incredible. This has been going around for a while, so hopefully there's some truth to it, or at least the rumors could plant the idea in Denis Villeneuve's head. I'm so ready for the BTW Egyptian eye makeup to make a comeback 

This movie isn't happening before a while tho... Villeneuve is making Dune 3 this year and then goes on to the next James Bond. Not sure we're seeing this film before 2030.

There are decades of arguments and disputes regarding this matter, so I won't copy paste the Wikipedia article about it here. But Cleopatra was likely of Mediterranean descent, Macedonian Greek to be precise. Honestly, Gaga really might be the best and most appropriate Hollywood contender for the role. Also... iconic nose, hello.
