All nominees are invited to perform every year since they are the only musical interludes within the show. However, not all accept. There’s songs who just dont simply want the exposure. Assuming they are blocking other performers just so interscope can grab the spotlight is quite stupid since many artists from different record labels have performed before. 

Now, if the Academy is denying the other nominees from performing, then thats a different story, and in any given phase, NOT Interscopes fault

oh, wow, that's an interesting way of putting it. there is literally no contest there, then.  like, the use of shallow was the definition of dramatic.

The Oscar music branch have a rule that either all five songs are performed, three of them or none of them. They don't put only two because it's less than half, they don't put one because it's favoritism, they don't put four because they can't neglet a single nominee. Idk why three out of five is ok tho.

That controversy happened the year Gaga performed TIHTY and one of the nominees decided to boycott. And the three performed songs were by pop stars (Gaga, Sam Smith & The Weeknd). Which only made the thing seem more rigged

Last year was gonna happen the same thing but they decided to put all five at last minute (thanks god because Mistery of Love was the best of all of them. Too bad it only got a 2min perf)

I hope they don't do it this year and allow all of them
