By that logic, The Fame wasn't pop because electronic dance music wasn't popular in the industry at the time. And Born This Way wasn't pop because techno isn't pop. ARTPOP wasn't pop because no one made heavy EDM in pop music anymore. Lemonade by Beyonce also wasn't pop that way. 

Pop music is not just what's popular. It's a genre on its own that's about catchy music that has hooks and a specific structure in most cases.

I believe that ARTPOP being lackluster in its execution (DO NOT try to defend it she was literally a split end away from quitting music altogether)  leading to the image overhaul was the best thing she could have done. It bugs **** out of me when people here cry out in their drones for another Fame Monster or ARTPOP Act 2 when she is literally known and praised for constant reinvention. If she was to go backwards in new releases or stay using the same sounds to please fans, Madonna would have been 100% correct calling her reductive. Her Jazz collab, Joanne and her venturing into acting is, IMO, some of her most Gaga work to date because I never expected it.

So true.  Some say pop is what defines Gaga.  Imo, what defines Gaga is her versatility and her reinvention.  Being a person, she should be doing what makes her happy.  While I don't think we have seen the last of popGa, right now it appears that jazz makes her the happiest.  This video is short clips of her performing jazz at the House Of Blues right after performing a full concert at Fenway Park the same evening.  The happiness!  The energy!  And far from sedate jazz ballads, which one might expect given the tiring situation that evening, she was on fire with her jazz here.

if she turned her career into just jazz and piano, i'd probably unstan tbh..

i love all of her music, i love the jazz piano show, but i dont think gaga should just do piano renditions and ballads and jazz music forever. i love it all, but think, the rest of her career just being that... theres so much more id like to see from her.

Yeah she seems more comfortable and happy with jazz. I don't think she is over making pop music/shows though.

She's not gonna stick to jazz. The same way she's not gonna stick to pop.

She's going to do pop, then jazz, rock, go back to pop, disco, jazz again... whatever she feels like in the moment. Haven't you all learned anything from her? She's not gonna stop exploring.

And if you are only here for pop, then come back when she does a pop record againg. There's plenty of pop music out there anyway.

 I agree that it looks like pop is Gaga’s job, but jazz is where her heart is.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, Jazz and Piano has effortless, natural Gaga charisma.

For the last almost five years Gaga has repeatedly showed her interest in jazz and more acoustic sounds by praising it to the heavens. Joanne was all about “real music” and “real instruments”, when in the beginning of her career she was all about “pop wil never be low brow” and she defended electronic as something capable of great things.

Her heart right now is in a different place. And that’s ok, there are plenty of pop artists out there, and jazz artists, and artists.
