ShockPop 7,747
Can we have a list based on net profit? Gross of $392 isn't alot for a movie with a $300 budget. Mama Mia had a budget of 75, grossed slightly more than ASIB so net profit lower. Rampage budgeted $140 and took $428 so the net profit is lower. The grinch budgeted $75 and turnover was $469 so only beating out ASIB slightly. ASIB offered an incredible return on investment for the backers. Truly sensational. When you factor in other things like the money WB are getting from the soundtrack success (which the other movies don't have... other than MM, really) the movie has been top 5 most successful money makers of the year. Agreed, à la La La Land (that was even cheaper than ASIB).
AlexanderMagno 10,746
I'm not surprised, these are incredible results for ASIB. Given that it was Bradley Cooper's directorial debut (actors turning directors rarely have this kind of positive reception), Gaga was not taken very seriously as an actress and the budget was relatively small (40M is nothing compared to the 200M most of these movies have for a budget, which includes movie promotion and marketing), I don't think it could be better than this. Also not surprised for the worldwide results, ASIB is mostly an American classic, not as international as other movies, so people are not as familiar with the story and the importance of the movie, and Gaga's own popularity remains fairly smaller outside the USA, where she has been promoting herself and creating her comeback for years. DiscoHeaven23 35,007
ALSO The top grossing film in the US with a lead female actress. Angelina Jolie and Meryl could never.

You'll see that's obvious because ASIB has not made $392. You made that whole issue up by yourself. Now take your shitty attitude and learn how to read a bit better. Stay in school, kids. Bradley Cooper is equally important, if not the real lead actor in the movie, so it's not like Gaga is the one who carries the whole movie through. But it's not the most successful musical of the year, or of recent years. Bohemian Rhapsody's tremendous success can't only be explained by the biographical argument Anyway, I'm not trying to put it down, not at all. But it's not exactly a gag worthy result. I know you all like to point out how much the movie cost but to me that's not relevant. A film's budget does not automatically affect how many people want to buy tickets (as we've seen this year more than anything, look at Solo).
