McYves 1,612 Posted December 25, 2018 Share Posted December 25, 2018 "The Fame", maybe it's just because of my obsession with Andy Warhol but yeah, I think it's a defining album of the last decade and by far her best. I know it's a cliché to say the first album is the best but actually it kind of makes sense because there was no preconceptions and expectations about her and her art when she was creating "The Fame", it was like an explosion out of nowhere, and it changed the game in pop forever. Also I feel she was having more fun than ever while doing that album, and she was more free in some ways. It just doesn’t age well and lyrically, she’s evolved so much from her debut. AP isn’t bad either, it just has some weak filler tracks and the album loses cohesion. APs stronger tracks are gold however. Joanne is vocally her best but it’s just not replayable as the others. TFM is a solid short album that’s glossy and pristine. BTW is her magnum opus. Sure it has some weaker tracks, but the album feels timeless. Some of her best lyrics, ambitious production, creative theme, and it’s a long album. You can see a bit of her whole catelog here.
