What LG6 needs to be

Okay, I very rarely say what Gaga should do 'cause, after all, I'm nobody to say what an artist should do or should not do. I don't have a degree in management or in arts or anything, but I listen to music a lot and therefore I guess I can have an opinion on a particular artist's career to some extent.

Some of you may know, Lana is my second fave of all time. Her music transcends me and is probably that of an artist I listen to the most. Born to Die is such a masterpiece and every time I listen to it it feels timeless. I think it was released in 2011 and yet it has aged so well. I don't intend to bash any of Gaga's album at all - I'm always the first to defend her against her floppest fans - but I can't find this timeless relevancy in any of her records. Don't get me wrong, I love her albums, but some of them have aged very badly.

The one that aged the best so far would be The Fame Monster, but I find it a shame it's only an 8-track album. The Fame sounds very 2000 to me and BTW sounds very 2010-2012 (which makes sense of course) but Joanne sounds very old-fashioned already. Yet, weirdly enough, I feel like ARTPOP sounds fresher now than when it was released... but we can't say it has the same appeal as TFM. Just take a look at the charts: it's always the album to chart the lowest (before Cheek to Cheek) when all her albums rise on the charts out of a sudden.

What I mean by that, is she still has to come up with her signature album: an iconic, flawless album that will pass through time with both timeless bops and unforgettable ballads. An album so good and so well received that charts won't even matter anymore when it comes to its relevancy.

A Star Is Born soundtrack could have been that album because of its ballads, but the pop songs are very weak to me. Plus it's a soundtrack and co-features another artist.

What do you think? Do you think she still has to deliver THAT album? Or do you think one of her record is already her signature album? :vegas:

Warm dance / pop with catchy tunes and lyrics with few ballads included

Gaga has always done great bops and ballads, I wouldn't mind an album full of both of it

But please no trap music / urban things.

For me TFM & BTW are her signature albums. And ARTPOP aged SO WELL it's amazing! I dont think she needs a "new" signature album because TFM is it for me. But i want LG6 to be on the level of success of TF.

TF / TFM and BTW are definitely her signature albums / eras.

Who doesn't know Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Paparazzi, Telephone, Alejandro, Born This Way ?

A Star Is Born already features some of her best works, regardless of how cliche the pop songs sound... the ballads are the highlight of the album and Shallow is shaping up to be one of her most recognizable songs. Gaga shouldn’t focus on trying to make a “perfect/signature album” anyway. LG6 is going to be techno influenced and that’s not something that becomes classic like most ASIB songs.

I know what you mean, TF, TFM, BTW and ARTPOP reflect very well the music of their respective year and they belong to the musical climate of their respective time. BTW and TFM do sound a bit dated but ... Joanne and A Star Is Born are timeless. They were so out of trend that they will sound fresh decades to come. The exceptions the poppier songs (DIC, Heal Me, HBF, WDYDT) but still.

Lana's music a different case, it's timeless at its core because she as an artist has a retro aesthetic, her songs are classic, ballad-oriented etc. Dance music is more prone to sounding outdated.
