These were the top dance/electronic ALBUMS artists of the Billboard 2018 year. This is based on albums SPS, not songs. The album has to be classified dance/electronic. So for Gaga, The Fame, Fame Monster, Born This Way and ARTPOP count. Not Cheek to Cheek, Joanne or ASIB.

Exactly. The Fame was very consistent throughout the year with sales and streams. It's been that way ever since the Super Bowl

especially #5

yes, objectively, the fact that an artist that has only one a 10 year old album (wrongly) considered to be a part of a genre being the top 5 biggest artist in said genre, makes it be an unreliable chart.

It's like that time that bloody Mary went number one in Lebanon i think. Cool! but that's not something you can take as a reference. The US can not be taken as a reference for dance music, but that's not new. What's true too is that no big EDM artist released an album this year, besides David Guetta. And it was pretty mediocre.

The Fame has always been a dance/electronic album. It's a dance album. Doesn't have to be electronic too. Madonna's Confessions on a Dance floor is in this genre as well. Robyn's albums too. In fact this genre used to be mostly dance albums until this decade when electronic albums became a thing. So don't think of Gaga being an electronic artist. She's considered dance in this instance. Hope that clears it up for you
