Yeah I'm happy to see conversation happening lmao. A lot of times in threads it's just a ton of shady gifs and reactions so I'm glad this hasn't become one of them.

Although I also have some chronic illnesses and mental health issues, as well as a complex medical history, I think the way I relate to Gaga's struggles is sort of inverted from other people here. Since I struggled and overcame (to the extent I can) a lot of my issues before I became a Gaga fan, I don't draw strength or inspiration from Gaga, but rather it allows me to relate to her on a more personal level. A lot of my strength is simply internal - "I've done this before, I've been dealing with this, it's not a huge deal."

 @That J are you on a transplant list? I've gone through double kidney failure and got a transplant for that, so I'm aware of the kind of thing you're going through.

I think I dont like that Lena came out saying something needed a face.  And I dont trust hers anyway but thats just me.

The idea that disease should be modeled is grotesque and she should be ashamed for suggesting so. 

That right there tells me she doesnt get it. 

It's more about bringing awareness to it and generating public discussion in turn raising funds for research and said cure - what better way to generate awareness than a celebrity? Standard.

I mean Fibromyalgia leaves people unable to work and ruins opportunities for a large percentage. I don't see much fighting going on it's just comments on not being for Lena Dunham becoming sort of a main spokesperson for this illness that is already barely taken seriously by anyone. It's affects their lives everyday and I mean I wouldn't want someone like Lena to be the "face" of what I have. People on here fight over a 10 second video on Madonna's instagram story I think talking about someone wanting to represent something that can ruin lives is less cringy but that's my two cents.
