Ladey Gaygay 9,321
We ALL know aura was supposed to be the lead single off ARTPOP some my 3 questions are... 1.)What would Aura chart 2.)How different would the ARTPOP era be if Aura was a single 3.)What would the Aura video look like(the lyric video makes me vomit all the time) My wish this skinny thread the best of luck STREAM JUICE BY LIZZO
Guest
It’s the continuation of the paparazzi-telephone storyline, so whatever Gaga wrote for that and given that Beyoncé is not featured in the song makes me think that she either died or mother monster killed ha! AndiGaga 6,806
1. Much worse than Applause, peak in the Top 20 2. Even worse 😂 3. A theatrical Chaos (in a positive way) I LOVE Aura! It's my most played song from ARTPOP next to Applause but it's just not a good choice for a single. Especially for the first one. Its way to experimental

Madame Goo Goo 3,931
I'd expect Aura to do just as well as Applause, maybe a little better if the video was Paparazzi pt. 3. Aura being a single would mean Lady Gaga has complete creative control over the era, so it would've run smoother with a successful single run of Aura, Venus, Sexxx Dreams or MANiCURE, and Gypsy. It's not about Aura being the lead single, it's about what Aura being the lead single symbolizes: the Gaga way. Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

Its was to experimental I think it would have debuted in the top 10 due to the controversy (with no leak etc). But radio wouldn't have dared to even TOUCH it. A big part of Applause's success was radio-driven, especially her stability in the top 10, something Aura wouldn't have had

kabirartfling 9,063
Top 5 for first 2 weeks, then it would quickly descend out of the charts as the song is hardcore and not that accessable to public. ARTPOP era would get a controversial start, filled with rush releases of promo singles and second single because let's be honest, no matter what the lead single would have been, gaga's mainstream appeal would still be fading away which is now normal as all popstars have to go thru it at some point. The video would be one to remember, definitely anything better than what we got from the whole ARTPOP campaign, I also get that promo shoots and album cover would be completely different if aura were to be the lead. Give your love to me
TEANUS 15,433
1. Top 10 for no more than 5 weeks. Maybe a higher debut cause of buzz around the topic of the song and the video but no longevity because radio wouldn’t have touched it. Like @GlitterandTeeth said, yes all pop radio stations are prunes, they wouldn’t have touched it outside of the radio deal 2. The era would’ve been much more Witness-esque. Yes she most likely still would’ve underperformed but at least Katy got to do what she wanted creatively 3. The video would’ve closed the Paprazzi and Telephone trilogy. It would be one of Gaga’s best videos no doubt British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
AStarIsBorn21 3,714
1. Probably depends on how much she promotes. Radio wouldn’t have played it, so probably not a top 3 hit, or even a top 5 (only MR has been luck enough to get top 5 and do so poorly radio wise... in retrospect). Maybe #6. 2. ARTPOP as an era would’ve been a lot better considering Gaga would have control. 3. Amazing music video.

Radio support would have been pretty weak. However, the music video being the end of the Paparazzi - Telephone trilogy would have gotten a lot of attention, especially with a Beyonce cameo. Remember, 2013 is when YouTube views started counting towards chart performance. As a result, Aura would have gotten its strongest support from YouTube views, as well as a few live performances. Although, it charting as well as Applause probably wouldn't have happened. 2. With more control, Lady Gaga would have been able to make the era be much less messy and she would also allow many more projects that failed to see their true potential come to life. ARTPOP Act. 2 and the ARTPOP app come to mind. 3. It would probably follow her escape after she and Beyonce left the restaurant where the mass-homicide took place. Now what happens next is usually predicted, but up for debate. Does she take out Beyonce and go alone (Most common theory.), or does she still work with her? I have always felt like a music video for Aura would have involved some message about a rebellion against the music industry. It really is a cool concept to think about. he/him/his
TimisaMonster 31,073
1) Debut Top 5 cuz fans would be buying it like crazy... 2) The era would have been exciting cuz it was so epic of a song that it would lead to hype for the rest of the album 3) Telephone pt2 wouldve slayed!!!
