If Gaga does pop again she should use vocal effects

I remember how during the Joanne era she said she'll never use vocal effects again. I believe she's stuck with it as you can hear even in electronic pop songs like the cure, WDYDT and hair body face. But I feel like it just doesn't sound right.

In electro pop and dance pop, autotune/other vocal effects are a part of the sound. They aren't always there just to compensate for the singer bc we all know that Gaga doesn't needย it but it's just part of the pop sound. Like if you compare her pre Joanne pop songs and the cure and ASIB's pop songs there is a clear difference in how her vocals are produced.ย

If LG6 turns out to be electronic pop, I hope she goes back to using the vocal effects that this kind of pop music comes with.

What do y'all think?

I really don't want her to go back to those. She sounds amazing on the ASIB soundtrack. In fact, I think there's too much echo in the mixes, I want it even more pure.

I love that combination of electronic music with that rough, rock-edged voice, a song like WDYDT really shows that off in splendid fashion. It's what makes her special, makes her stand out among her peers. I don't want her to play that down again after showcasing it so brilliantly with this album :grr:

Let's also remind ourselves that she never even wanted those vocal effects on her albums anyway. She bitterly revealed in 2015 that Interscope edited all her vocals (as she explained, "they take out the vibrato") against her wishes.

It'd be a real disappointment if they'd interfere again after she's received so much acclaim for exactly what Interscope thought was a disturbing factor :air: The public obviously doesn't mind her sounding a bit "rougher" and less polished. In fact, it's exactly what seems to make the ASIB songs so well-liked. Let's build on that momentum pls.

Did she say that she would never use vocal effects again, though? I know she said she used minimal (if not, none at all) vocal effects during Joanne, but I don't remember her saying that she'sย neverย going to use it again.ย

To answer your question, I think she can easily do pop songs without having a lot of vocal effects. WDYDT and Hair Body Face are both great examples. Plus, she's an excellent vocalist, I would want her to showcase that more.

If she's making songs with Sophie there's gonna be a lot of different effects, don't you worry.

I think it was her and Sia saying they weren't going to use autotune (or vocal tuning) again but didn't mention other effects

I like the sound of autotune when it's not full on, it sounds polished which is great in EDM. But I think with the pop songs on ASIB and the Cure, they sound fine to me and that it's just her vocal style that has changed. But if you apply autotune to those vocals it wouldn't change the sound much (unless you T-Pain it) because she's already in tune but she does sing with more vibrato now than she used in her first albums which is probably why you think it doesn't sound right because it sounds like her current vocals are for a different genre. But her vocals in the final version of I Want Your Love sound more poppy to me the style shes singing in.

I actually love how she works around the roughness and power of her voice. It gives her music an interesting edge.

Even though her vocals were probably more tuned and cleaned up with her first four albums, you can tell they are very powerful andย different. That she has made the more emphasized with her most recent music is great, tbh.

I think what she meant was she doesn't want to edit her vocals to polish out any "flaws", which is what many singers who can't really sing *have*ย to do.

I don't think she's opposed to using vocal software to create artistic effects, like she did on many tracks in the past (Heavy Metal Lover is a good example).

I like autotune when it's used for effect, not to hide when people can't sing well.

Gaga can sing well and we know she can, using it to enhance certain aspects of a song wouldn't be bad.
