I don't trust any opinion that says" europe isn't racist at all when it comes to black people"

Racism is in every country. If it's not white vs black like American History, It's white vs white. I've heard loathes of "dirty italians/scummy poles/whatever the ****" Irish prejudice slowly getting buried in America as well.

A remedy for the situation is on the first page: coal stripes.

It may be more tolerant now but it still has its dark past (as do many countries, I'm not denying that). What bothers me is that people are pushing that history aside and trying to pass it off as a harmless tradition. "It's just chimney soot! We're not racist! Kids love it! Why don't you fix YOUR problems America?!" :triggered:

If an African country started a tradition called "White Jack" where people covered their faces in white paint and wore blond wigs and danced around the streets, all these Black Pete apologists would have their panties in a twist.

Not a bit

I‘m also talking about Blackface in Germany and how extremely prevelant it is during Carnival season here, along with lowkey racist carnival & Halloween costumes. I grew up in the countryside and when I was a child, the kindergardeners put us all in a very questionable play that included brownface, yellowface and blackface. There‘s still a HUGE amount of unaddressed blackface here in sketch comedy as well (and I‘ve seen multiple clips of Polish comedians being in blackface on TV). I‘ve seen a lot of people in my country defend blackface as like „It‘s just a costume, we‘ve done it for centuries it‘s no big deal.“

Right, well, that's a bit different from culture and tradition. I thought you meant actual customs from decades and centuries ago being passed down when you said that. What you're describing definitely can't be passed off as culture that should be maintained for a country's pride. I can understand why some people might defend a proper, official holiday/custom but defending blackface in general, for no reason? That's really bad. I didn't know it was that bad around the central European belt. I can assure you that as Brit, hearing about this horrifies me. There will always be that one upstart who starts controversy for the sake of it but I can safely say that the vast majority of Brits would never dream of doing something like this. So, any country looking to blame their colonialist past as the reason for any of these traditions really doesn't have a leg to stand on when one of the most famous countries who had a colonial empire wouldn't support it. I'll say this much for Britain - we actively try to move on from our colonialist past, we don't want to remind anyone of it. So, the behaviour of other European countries really astounds me.
