They have said multiple times that while Gaga didn't contribute to the lyrics, she vastly changed the composition. It was a much softer, piano-driven ballad and Gaga added more of the rock sound to it and made it louder. Lyrics aren't the only things that get you songwriting credits!

Nobody said it was just the lyrics, but the melody was the same and the arrangement was shifted a bit

Why is there so much drama behind this song? :selena:

It is A REALLY COMPLICATED SONG FOR THIS AWFUL WORLD.

:fthis: to all music labels, honestly. The entire industry is a mess. Diane is one of the most unforgettable western songwriters of the second half of the 20th century, and has to struggle for support, like this???

You aren't going to hell Fayecuntaway, at least not for this.

Dance music isn't just about tight jeans and asses, dance music isn't inherently vapid. Dance music should help you shake your demons. Till It Happens To You may have been written with a specific concept in mind, but the themes are universal. Like Gaynor's I Will Survive.

“Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.” - Rumi

Honestly, they weren't wrong in wanting it to be a PSA type of video and not have Gaga in it. Like, I can picture one of those generic old school ballad videos where the singer is walking through the woods in autumn or some ish. That said, they should have ponied up SOME funding for it. Diane is perennially Oscar nominated, and even got a nom for that song Rita Ora sang from Beyond the Lights. The song didn't have a big production, Gaga's fanbase supported it, and viewers bought it after Gaga performed it on Oscar night. They would have made their investment back.

The only line I'm thankful for is "Why'd you come around me with an ass like that?" :diane: Queen Diane's and Gaga's songwriting at its best.

Interescope actually stopped promotion for ARTPOP after Gaga didn't agree to release the video for DWUW. Everything that she did after January was from her own personal (or what was left) and Gaga herself had to pay for G.U.Y.'s video. That was a red flag, and Diane's statement is another one. I'm fed up with them, honestly.

Wait, i thought it was interscope that didn’t want the video released and Gaga did. Pretty sure that’s how it went.

Unless i missed something, but i really don’t think i did

Interscope slander is so triggering. Truly.

Reasons why not to fully get behind TIHTY:

- Besides moral message, this won't have long shelf-life

- It is kind of like a PSA (sorry), and the film it corresponds with (despite having good morals) isn't some huge project

- Mainly: They wouldn't be getting back what they put it in.

Most of this is referring to if she/they wanted full-single release, but this isn't a reason to write off a record label. If you know anything about these aspects of the music industry, you'd know how Interscope treats Gaga is amazing. She re-signed with them for a reason.

I am pretty sure that Interscope did not want to release the DWUW Video because it was too controversial. She is vomiting in the music video, R. Kelly is standing over her and simulates peeing on her, he is kind of abusing and drugging her and last but not least Terry Richardson filmed it. In that period of time a lot of women already had claims that he sexual harassed them.

I have to say I am happy that Interscope made that choice otherwise Gaga would have a lot more problems as an artist now.

Ok I'm sure Diane was okay with it... Crediting Gaga. Is there a source for the changed 1 line thing? Because they both sound like love each other and the song.
