Blackface has been historically used to make fun of black people and get white actors to play them. It's understandable why that would hurt people or be highly insensitive. You could say it's not a thing anymore today but that's not true. If you live in a place where racism is very negligible, great for you. Many parts of the world and America are still full of racism.

 

In the past, some light skinned black people used to try to pass as white to save themselves from persecution. People don't do that anymore. Bleaching hair is normal because any race can have blonde hair. Plus, in isolation, it would be okay. What would be odd is if a black person wore blonde hair, blue eyes, and somehow colored their whole skin very pale (it would take color, not just bleach to do that). Still, it wouldn't have the racist context that blackface does.

Well I do in fact remember that there are some Asians who have blonde hair but it is due to the sun stripping melanin off of their  hair and they were not born with it.  I never heard of black people, well those with distinct black hair, be born with blonde hair. 

And I honestly think that there is nothing wrong with what the instagram model is doing.  Just cause in east Asia,  many people are getting surgeries essentially to make them look similar to the western standard of beauty with slim pointy nose,  bigger eyes and they even use colored contacts. And yes they are pretty honest in saying that they do want to look more Caucasian. 

I don't see as much people having a problem with it. (Western people copy Asians and asians copy western people and not a lot of people are going all angry about it.) 

So this is where I am coming from that is why I am confused on why this is a problem and your explanation of black face helped.

Actually blonde is a distinct feature of Central northern Euro. There are certain racial tribes in Africa, as well as aboriginal Austrailia that have a gene mutation that causes blonde hair, and lighter eyes. However, blonde is not a normal natural trait of black people. There are white people that have Intense, tight curls, but that isn't a normal, natural trait of most white people.  If Beyonce wants to wear a blonde wig, than it is her hair, her body- she can do what she wants. 

Beyonce is mixed. Her mother is Creole, her dad is black. Beyonce has always had longish hair. Beyonce, Nicki and countless others try to look whiter in Magazines to sell. NOt necessarily white, but whiter to add a bit of racial ambiguity. Racial Ambiguity always sells. Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Paula Abdul, etc have all played with racial ambiguity to broaden their base.

Most white people are not blonde. About 2% have red hair. Blonde black people are just like redhead white people. Nothing abnormal or unnatural. Just different. And it doesn't make them any less black or white respectively.

It's sad and offensive and it's basically fetish gotten to far. But the fact that this fetish exist has to do with the way USA is reacting to racism. This way racism will always be a thing, that's very sad, it's like we're going backwards

You’re missing the point completely. When Beyoncé dyes her hair blond she isn’t trying to pass as a white woman. She’s a black woman with blond hair. This girl on Instagram is clearly trying to pass as a black woman. She coloured her skin, contoured her nose, pumped her lips, to purposefully pass as a black a woman so she can get likes on Instagram.

I think that Beyoncé has recently embraced her black background in a more fulsome way, but she used to play on racial ambiguity a lot. I understand what you are saying, I just disagree with it. Some black people do try to make themselves less black. Playing with your skin colour is another example. Why would you whiten your skin? Why?

I actually thought that was Nicki in the pictures the OP provided that were under the ones of her beside the white doors! That is some intense copying. This isn't your typical blackface, which is temporary for an offensive joke, this is literally trying to pass yourself off as another person, full time. I'd hazard a guess as to say this is mental illness, maybe even similar to Rachel Dolezal. Even she didn't go that far.

I've always thought it weird how deep she tans herself. I don't know if it's her own doing or her management is encouraging it, telling her to play to a Hispanic or mixed audience because of her Italian heritage making her a little darker to start with. In the Side To Side video, she is literally the same colour as Nicki. I'm really surprised she wasn't called out for that.
