Angela Merkel To Step Down As Party Chairman (Not Fully Confirmed Yet)

Angela Merkel will not candidate again as chairman of her party (CDU). A new chairman will be voted for in December.

She also won't candidate again as Chancellor of Germany in 2021 but she will continue her legislative period until it ends. After her legislative period has ended she won't be available for any further elections to the Bundestag and won't take any political offices.

Meh. Im still a fan of merkel. She did what was human.

Did everything went down fine? No.

There are many wrongs in Germany or in general. and I hate how all the negativity is focused together on foreigners and refugees. I hate that the CDU and other parties made it possible for the AFD to even rise that far.

And Im exhausted by the people. Why do they vote into the other extreme? There are other parties. Why do they have to vote for the worst.

Sad sad sad- Everywhere we go into the wrong direction politically. its always two steps forward and one behind again. We are currently walking backwards. I hope we make progression soon again.

Germany's Angela Merkel has said she will step down as chancellor in 2021, following recent election setbacks.

"I will not be seeking any political post after my term ends," she told a news conference in Berlin.

She also said she would not seek re-election as leader of the centre-right CDU party in December. She has held the post since 2000.
