Is brazil more "right" than I thought or??? someone educate me cause I don't know sh*t about this. the "left" has been losing force in here due to numerous corruption scandals from previous governments (especially Lula's, president from 2003-2011, from the same party as Fernando Haddad). It's sad, but I believe the left parties are to blame for Bolsonaro's victory. This election was complete hell in here. People literally died due to political disagreements. What concerns me most is not Bolsonaro himself, but the peoplle who voted for him. He won't have a good goverment, not only because opposition is really strong now, but also because he won't (legally) be able to do most of the things he said he is going to. More than half of the Amazon rainforest is in Brazil, and environmentalists worry Bolsonaro’s presidency will open it up to increased deforestation and mining. He has also called for a halt to recognizing indigenous land in a way that protects it from various kinds of exploitation, saying that “not a centimeter will be demarcated for indigenous reserves.” Bolsonaro vowed to follow in U.S. President Donald Trump’s footsteps and leave the Paris climate accord, though he recently backpedaled on that stance. He said the country would stay in the agreement - as long as it did not have to give up jurisdiction of the Brazilian Amazon. The accord makes no mention of this possibility. As someone from a non-democratic country, I feel so sad at the world right now. Use your power to vote, your freedom of expression (if you still have it) and all the tools at your disposal to fight for good. Not this neo-fascist bullcrap

Muh 144
I am not brazilian, I am mexican doing and exchange here and I am beyond devastated for the decision most people made in here. I can't help but feel upset for all my friends I have made here, most of them are part of the LGBTQ comunitty or they're beautiful black people. But we need to stick together and resist against the opression. I still believe love trumps hate, above all.  This is my major hope for the well being of the country. 8 hours ago, AlexanderMagno said: Besides that, his party doesn't have the majority of the Congress, so he won't be able to achieve lots of his ideas. Fortunately, he CAN'T just have new laws approved by himself. There is the congress and other government instances he has to go through to achieve his ideas. And even more I still believe in the kindness of people. A huge reason of why he won it's because the need for change lots of people have and and because of the distrust brazilian people have in the PT. So my point is, the people who voted on him because they share his awful ideas, his racism, homophobia an so, are a minority.  Let's pray on that.  SE FERE A MINHA EXISTENCIA, SEREI RESISTENCIA. lairofhk 936
Welp, now they've just joined the US in terms of hitting rock bottom. Really, we are living through a truly scary time. But we must stand with each other in solidarity, and resist this global attack on our human rights. If the global right really thinks the left is weak and that we can just be pushed around and trampled over, then I'll say that they are in for a huge, ugly surprise. We all have a civil, and a human duty to stand up and speak out when we see injustice happening. Because it is happening everywhere, and on a scale that in some ways may be unprecedented. So let's be strong yall, and put up a hell of a good fight. Cause we're not f*cking going anywhere.
