Perhaps the mom got addicted before having the child and is now an addict because addiction is powerful. That doesn't better the situation. If my mother loved me and cared for me but was fighting addiction, I would still call her a good mother. I'd understand her struggle and desire to stop and the drug's overpowering impact. Yes because the time taken away to do said heroin could be used to raise and spend time with the child. As well as the money used to buy it could be better spent for the betterment of said child. Also, heroin isn’t like sneaking a cigarette. By doing heroin you are endangering your childs life by exposing them to disease and dangerous people. Children watch everything and understand a lot more than people realize. It is important above all, to set a good and healthy example for their social and mental well being. ⚯͛

I think it's all a bad situation But i guess my point of view is based on what my definition of a good mother is. Mine is more about how she treats me and her intentions, even if she fails. But i respect ur point of view.

But I am almost 30 years old and I live in a middle class area that is ravaged by heroin. We are burying people every week and there are children left behind. I understand its an addiction and an illness, but you are certainly a bad parent for taking time away from your children to stick a needle in your arm. It doesn’t change your love for them. But there are plenty of people who love their children unconditionally but are bad parents. Another argument is “Its an illness, what about people with cancer, are they bad parents?” The answer is no. Because people with cancer DO NOT risk the safety of their children for a fix. They are not opening their homes to disease, physical, and sexual abuse. ⚯͛
