LEATHER is a byproduct of the MEAT FOR CONSUMPTION industry.

FUR is a byproduct of the LOOK AT THAT PRETTY ANIMAL HIDE I WANT TO WEAR IT industry.

they're not moral equivalents if you take the fact that sustenance comes from one of them. yes, then you can argue that eating meat is not okay, but this isn't the same topic. it doesn't make fur any less wrong.

That's so far from true. Yes our teeth are shaped to eat meat.

But any reports on meat causing colon cancer for example? It's not black and white. The problem is that people NOW suddenly jump at her for wearing fur, but no one seems to notice when leather is worn. Or the meat dress. And yet people call her hypocritical?

Rabbits are also a meat industry. And no not all calf leather is from the meat industry either! The softest kind of leather comes from killing an unborn calf fetus. No one eats that afterwards.

Also goat etc is also eaten but worn as fur.

he wasn't pitting rabbits against cows/the leather trade, though. he was using the example to try and quantify worth of life, so it's not relevant.

yes, not all leather is from the meat industry, but as far as i know, the majority is and that's a step in the right direction. i don't endorse the wearing of leather either.

yes, people wear goat fur and eat goat meat. this really isn't lessening the case against fur whatsoever. the majority of fur is from sought after animals that we don't eat, we just kill to wear. not good.
