Y'all acting like equally worse **** doesn't happen in western pop music :air:

Not as common and not to this extent.

am i the only one who expected it to be a same-sex couple?

As of now, baby boomers are still in power and the majority if the work force is people 40+, so they‘re still on the vastly homophobic side while Korean millenials/Gen Zlers are a lot more liberal and close to what young people are like in western countries. If this was a high profile same sex relationship, both of them would have been taken out and the company would have framed it as „suicide“.

Cuz people are good at sweeping things under the rug. But once there‘s too much pressure, the pot explodes and people are like „I had no idea this ever happened.“

The difference really is that total control over a person‘s live is socially acceptable in Korea, so people don‘t feel bad when they talk about it. While in the western hemisphere it is now deemed as socially unacceptable, but it is still done and we won‘t ever know cuz they‘re required to sign NDAs about it.

You do have a point but I still don’t think it’s as common there as it is in Korea.

KPOP industry is vile, idols are treated like slaves and made to suffer greatly. I'm so glad the backlash has been severe for their label.

This is silly. If anything disclosing her relationship publicly is advantageous to Hyuana's image since she is known as K-pop's rebel. They should brand E'Dawn the same way instead of just shutting them down like this which only makes the label seem nuts (at least internationally).

The staff/CEO changed within the last two years and ever since the company has been going down the drain. Their first f*ck up was disbanding 4minute (Hyuna's former band). Appearently they only asked Hyuna to renew her contract, without her knowing that the other members weren't asked. She, of course, renewed her contract and only found out via the NEWS that her band was disbanding and that the other members were essentially dropped from the company. The other members found out through the news as well and essentially cut off Hyuna/quit their friendship with her because media portrayed it as like "Hyuna kicks other members out".

MESS that's so messy and cruel of them. K-pop is really cut throat. It's getting way too excessive. They need to treat their celebs as people not just products of the label.

The life of kpop idols is so sad really. I only read bad things about it. The huge lack of sleep from working 24/7 putting their health in danger and making them faint on stages, being owned by labels, no dating allowed and apparently they don't make that much money either

Tiffany from Girls' Generation has recently done a 1 hours sit down interview about the K-Pop industry on an American radio show and honestly... You can really see how she's AFRAID and uncomfortable she still is at expressing her own opinions even though she is out of the system, because the system caused her to keep everything to herself and just portray "perfection". The host says multiple times "I mean, people don't fall in love with perfection, they fall in love with people. With personalities, flaws, opinions and authenticity." Tiffany just goes "I wish I could take you to Korea so that people could listen to you talk."

It has a really sad sense of "I agree wholeheartedly, but I'm glad YOU said it, cuz if it actually came out of MY mouth, it would burn a lot of bridges"
