Dominic 11,922
I hope he gets backlash but it’s doubtful. No one should be using this word, it serves no use in our language. Gay men need to stop saying it and trying to normalise it themselves as well, it just makes it sound okay for others to use. If you want a word to become archaic simply stop using it. Simple logic. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Gladys622 974
As someone who gets called a f****t all the time, it’s definitely not pleasant. But I don’t usually pay much attention to it unless they mean it in a derogatory way. It’s not really a problem to me if gay people use it, just like it isn’t a problem to me if black people use the n word. But, re the Eminem thing, it’s homophobia. Or, at least, he’s acting homophobic. It isn’t an “alter ego”. That’s just dumb. Sorry. boom boom cherry
RahrahWitch 6,985
I hate the word even when Gay people use it. It's Hip hop, Sadly He'll suffer no serious consequences as usual with this genre.
JohnnyVersace 8,987
Yikes at people saying "just don't pay attention." He's a white straight man, and has no place saying that word for millions of listeners to hear. It perpetuates the stigma, whether we pay attention or not, and is unacceptable. Harry 26,836
59 minutes ago, pink sushi said: You guys need to relax and stop being so offended by every little thing. Eminem has said many times that he supports gay marriage and has no problems with gay people. If you want to be mad at someone truly homophobic, go rant about the numerous conservative members of the Trump administration who believe that being gay is a sin against God and that gay people will rot in hell. Guess what - you can do both. You need to stop telling people how to feel about certain things. You don't know what history people have with this word and why they might feel a certain way about it. When gay kids stop killing themselves for being bullied with this word, then you can try and pretend that it's okay. Until then, please stop acting as though the normalisation of homophobic language is acceptable and that we should all just take it lightly.

StrawberryBlond 14,819
At this point, I realise that rappers just say stuff to be controversial, whether it's what they really believe or not. With Eminem, it's no surprise. I do like his music but this problematic stuff is just standard. It doesn't shock me anymore and I don't know why it shocks anyone else either. His whole schtick is saying stuff to offend people. Rap's been doing it for years. It's just deemed too far when certain, really famous ones do it, it seems. I'm a feminist woman and even I'm pretty immune to sexist stuff in rap now. It's just the way it works in the genre. If it rhymes and gets people talking, there's no holds barred. It may sound like I'm being cold about the whole thing, but it's like the majority of these complaints come from people who don't listen to rap so don't truly get why stuff like this is even said. It's not like Eminem's got a large gay fanbase like Nicki that he might lose if he says the wrong thing. The gay community has a long history with Eminem and it's unlikely to ever be changed, so I don't know what difference this makes.
smitherz 2,353
I think the bottom line is that straight cis white men think they can get away with anything. I don’t get what is so ****ing difficult about just not using the word. He doesn’t use the the n word because he knows how that would make people feel. I know for a fact he knows the impact and implications of using that word especially in reference to a queer person of color. Why can’t he give our community the same ****ing respect? Its just gross. Wolf 1,328
Talking sh*t about Tyler right when he's making waves in the hiphop industry. Eminem can go back to the 00's -- the only time when he was relevant. And I can't believe Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) had a part in this why
