Does ASIB have the chance to compete for that Golden Lion (Leone d'Oro)?

It is not among the "Official selection: In competition" list of 20 long-featured films , but the "Out of Competition" one.:duck:

Though I feel really excited and appreciated that it can premiere in the 2018 Venice film festival:heart:, the fact that ASIB will probably have no chance to get into any competition of awards still make me a little disappointed/sad.

Here are the 21 films which are allowed to be in the official competition:

1.THE MOUNTAIN

2.DOUBLES VIES   (Juliette Binoche)

3.THE SISTERS BROTHERS (Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal)

4.FIRST MAN  (Director : Damien Chazelle from LALALAND  Cast:Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy)

5.THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS (Director: Coen brothers)

6.VOX LUX  (Natalie Portman)

7.ROMA   (Director:  Alfonso Cuarón from GRAVITY)

8. 22 JULY

9.SUSPIRIA  (Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton)

10.WERK OHNE AUTOR

11.THE NIGHTINGALE

12.PETERLOO

13.CAPRI-REVOLUTION

14.ACUSADA

15.ZAN (KILLING)

16.FRÈRES ENNEMIS

17.NUESTRO TIEMPO

18.NAPSZÁLLTA (SUNSET)

19.WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE?

20.AT ETERNITY’S GATE  (Willem Dafoe)

21.THE FAVOURITE  (Director : Yorgos Lanthimos Cast:Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz)

It's ok, we can't all be delusional. :stalkga:   Awards are nice, but it seems like the movie is going to get a lot of BUZZ which is a big deal!

It isn’t eligible for any awards. I’m not sure exactly why that is, maybe they missed the deadline or weren’t selected or just didn’t want to lose this early on the road for the Oscars.

Yes I think it is the latter one. To be in competition could create higher expectations and would set the bar too high which could backfire if it won't win. I think WB know what they are doing.

We knew this right? It’s rare that Golden Lion winners (which tend to art house films) end up winning an Oscar except maybe last year’s The Shape of Water.

Gypsy Life

95% of golden lion winners are usually foreign films so it has no chance.

It might win the TIFF audience award though. I think we'll even be able to vote for that one.

Maybe it's so good that Bradley felt bad for the other films and wanted to give them a chance.

Duh?! It was well known from the very beggining. When she announced the ASIB will be screened at Venice Festival it was also announced that it won't be competing. Soooo.. why do we have this topic?

We knew this already and tbh it's better like this, it's very early to go after awards right now.

Ugh....sorry, but I don't force you to get into this thread trying to blame me instead of just providing confirmation (and yeah, there's already some kind people answering me above.:flutter:) I was not quite sure about all those details and my thoughts so I ASKED.

Is it wrong that I am not THAT leisure to be able to keep informed or pay attention on every post here so I just don't realize this fact until today? I even post this thread with a "question" tag, gurl~:selena:

Show ur mere respect plz. :ohwell:

IDK, but they may feel it is not necessary so they don't submit it as one

ASIB is not that kind of movie which takes part in MAIN competition like Cannes or Venice, but I am pretty sure it is going to receive a lot of awards on Grammy and Oscars.
