Specially those two, yes:trollga:

let's agree to disagree gurl :huntyga:

I'm still inclined to thinking that Umbrella is the only Rihanna song that is known and remembered globally by people and is known to be sung by Rihanna.

I'm not talking about WW success of the song, but rather how well it is remembered WW and is it recongizable as a certain singer's song.

like an example of a globally "iconic" song is Baby One More Time - everyone and their mother in most of the world remember this song and know that it is sung by Britney. do other girls have this kind of truly iconic songs? that's what I'm trying to establish here.

I believe Bad Romance is on the same level of global recognition as Baby One More Time and will be remembered and recognized as a Lady Gaga song for ages to come.

+ to Alejandro, it's super loved and well remembered in Russia as well :vegas:

so would you say that I am biased if I think that Gaga's hits are more iconic than her contemporaries' hits?

I think we all might me a bit biased, but Bad Romances impact can't be denied, everybody knows it every crowd no matter what age goes crazy when it's played, my grandma knows it, it's just That song. And Gaga as a person is more known all around the world, her power when she was on top stays untouched. I mean this as no shade but almost nobody older than 50 knows who Beyoncé is in Europe, especially white people. So I don't think you're far from the truth.

thank you!

it's kind of baffling to me that you're so far one of the only 2 or 3 people who agree with me on this on a LADY GAGA FAN FORUM :saladga:

like what is happening, is this real life :selena:

Might be because of the demographic they live in and what kinds of people they're in touch with. But in Europe (especially East Europe) Gaga is certainly regarded as the girl who changed pop culture throughout the generation, except for say the generation of 13 yos.

it's kind of interesting how the environment affects these things.

like I'm in a "less" developed part of the world compared to the most of GGD users, but I feel like there's an advantage in my case in a way that it allows me to see a broader picture of things - not just the pop stans bubble or the US/UK/english-speaking countries mass media which treats songs/singers for the amount of songs they have sold / amount of streams they achieved rather than an actual impact that the singers and their songs make worldwide.

Pokerface is more known than any of her peers hits. And if you play "ra ra" people.will be able to guess its LG even if they don't know the song.

(Baby One More time and Single.Ladies are more known but you excluded them)

Gaga has this weird relationship with her hits. Or the GP does. People are far more keen to name Katy and Kesha and Rihanna hits for their throwback playlists than Gaga. Yet Gaga's hits were usually more successful. Ive no idea why people do this. Its so counter intuitive. Either that or they intentionally ignore Gaga

The Most Popular Girls in School megarate is cancelled!

I Kissed a Girl - maybe, but it's pretty much forgotten in my opinion.

California Gurls was super successful at the time, but I don't feel like it had a global impact on the level of Poker Face and Bad Romance.

Honestly I think ur just being biased towards Gaga

Most people of asked could probably remember more Rihanna songs than Gaga songs.

Katy has Kissed a Girl, California Girls and is even dare say Firework as signature hits

Bruno Mars and Adele have remembered songs too

Gaga is among the remembered ones yes but by no means the only one
