Was Marry The Night A Better Lead Single?

Even though Born This Way was a great album, era, and lead single choice.

For some reason I believe MTN would’ve been a better lead single choice, made Judas a promo single, and TEOG the second. But what are your thoughts?

I still don’t understand how people think Marry the Night is single quality. It’s one of the best songs on the album, but it wasn’t made for radio.

90% of the album wasn’t single/radio friendly tbh.

MTN was supposed to be the lead single at one point before going with BTW and it wouldve done great coming off The Fame Monster hype and her still being with her original team (Boomcack, Nicola, etc) imo

Marry the night would have smashed and btw kinda separated Gaga from the GP. The video especially made her too gay for the mainstream. Although I love the song and the video but I think MTN would have smashed. And Btw should have been released as a third single after TEOG.

Cmon guys this is obvious. Her first song after the meat dress would’ve done well no matter what. Based on that alone, yes, Marry the Night should’ve been the first single. It’s also what Gaga wanted. Born This Way should’ve been the final single.

It would have done very well yes. Definitely top 3 in US after the meat dress and tfm era.

1st single: Marry The Night

2nd single: The Edge Of Glory

3rd single: Born This Way

4th single: Judas

thats how i wouldve chosen

No, it was a good promo single, not actual single. The melody is not as good to stand on its own, and that video is cringey
