Roanoke is about actors filming a documentary at a haunted mansion and even the style it was executed in was non-traditional (interviewing the cast and stuff and having reenactments) and it had a huge twist in the middle of the season where the reenactors are suddenly revealed to be actors in reality. The story then went from focusing on the myth to the actual actors being massacred themselves. Murder House is about an average family living in a haunted house. I agree that Roanoke was fresh and unconventional but I was talking about the main plot http://pepperforpresident.tumblr.com/post/150463116854/murder-house-a-story-about-three-family-members Also let me clarify that Roanoke has probably my favorite theme and setting out of all the seasons but the episodes after the "huge twist" are basically just replaying the same events that occurred in the first half making the whole season way too repetitive. Also, as you said, the story changes focus from the myth to actually killing off characters who had literally just been introduced making it hard, at least for me, to even care about their death (plus we are told that they all die except one so we already know what's going to happen). I would have actually preferred if they explored even further the myth surrounding the lost colony and especially Gaga's character which was described as the "bitch with the real power" but her story was cut short because of Gaga's unavailability and she didn't seem to be that more powerful than the Butcher (I mean she obviously has magic but she didn't really seem to be the one controlling the ghosts of the colony even though she was the one who "brought them back to life" with that blood moon sacrifice). And let's be honest that twist was kinda of predictable especially considering all the hype Ryan built around it - it would have been more effective if he would have just let it be a complete surprise instead of teasing it very early in the season. I mean it was kinda impossible to predict that they were going to make a reality show but I was definitely able to predict that they were going to show the actors who portrayed the characters in the first half. I was actually quite pleased by the twist, I do think it would have been better if Ryan never told us, but even if he did I was still very surprised by that episode and I think it was really satisfactory if you ask me. MeloArtDramaPop 789
It’s a series that has potential to last really long because every season has the chance to top the last

I guess it all comes down to personal preferences I would have actually preferred if the twist was that the second half was just going to go back to normal storytelling and have the real people + eventually the actors dealing with Roanoke on their own without the premise of any type of tv show...
