StrawberryBlond 14,919
Regardless of what I think of Bey and Jay, which numpty scheduled this to take part on Cup final night? These tours are booked ages in advance, was any research done at all? Chances are that at least one European nation would have been involved, so it stands to reason that some forethought had to be applied here and ensure that there was no gig planned anywhere on that night so the respective countries wouldn't have to make a choice between what they want to do. If England had managed to reach the final and the gig was in London, literally nobody would have turned up! It's not like the final is decided at the last minute either. Do American touring companies have any idea how Europe operates and what events could cause a clash? I mean, I automatically know to discount February in the US as that's Superbowl season, as well as awards ceremonies. It's like, use your head. So saying, local companies can screw up too. Girls Aloud once got a gig booked in Ireland on St Paddy's Day. No need to say what became of that date. Someone said she’s a local artist which is just plain delusional, she’s one of the most successful entertainers in the entire world. It’s not like she’s Florida Georgia Line or some country crap. There's reasoning behind it, though, which is always my perogative when "hating" on someone. I don't do it for nothing. And she is very local, not just in Europe, but around the world. There's a reason why she hasn't performed in Latin America since her 4 album and a reason why she hasn't performed in Asia since her Sasha Fierce album (there really is no excuse for that one). Sure, she pulls in big numbers when she tours in Europe, but it must be because people are going for her old hits, because she's known as a good singer and performer and there's the whole "I saw a legend perform" idea. But if you look at her actual single and album sales, she's done really badly in Europe since 2011. Her last top ten single in the UK was Drunk in Love and her last #1 was If I Were A Boy. In total, she's only had 5 top tens in the last decade in the UK. I was shocked at how low Lemonade's international sales were because we were always told it was such a smash and we seldom question reality. Turns out that more people see her shows than buy her albums, so it seems like she makes her money from touring more than anything these days. I think her selling power is overblown by her PR to make people want to buy her album because everyone else is. The sad fact is that Lemonade barely outsold ARTPOP worldwide. And yet we were always sold the idea by the media that AP was a total flop and Lemonade was a total hit. I find it all a bit unfair and see right through the hyperbole.
