Chromatic 12,177
This is gonna sound harsh, but let's be honest, Katy Perry is like Gaga's ugly little sister, you know
River 114,857
I think Gaga is at the point where she and Katy are not in the same group of artists.. Gaga took a different path while Katy remain on the same one since their debut.. So for me this question is irrelevant.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Mirrion Rizzons 10,728
I mean katy is superior with youtube views and radio play wheras gaga has more acclaim and I guess better sales? idk also while the gp don't really care for either anymore, they have positive things to say about gaga, but a lot of the GP seem to drag katy to the pits however katy can defo repair her image after witness but I feel like gaga is in a better place for longevity due to her versatility, katy is the queen of hits but good sis is mid 30's and you know how ageist the industry and GP is so I'm not sure what other ventures she will do musically in the upcoming years overall they're both in a good place, but gaga has a greater reputation than katy BY FAR
highlikegaga 8,616
i like katy, but i feel like while more people may be listening to katy more, gaga has the impact. and people are going to mention her (hopefully) for many many more decades to come. katy makes easy hits that are super liked, and as soon as she drops something that doesn't resonate with the GP she fades. can't wait to see what katy does next tho

PunkTheFunk 124,369
The question of whether one is "bigger" than the other is irrelevant because neither of them are really "big" anymore Gaga is no longer a mainstream artist but honestly, who cares? She has the longevity, the critical acclaim, the raw talent, and a great rapport with industry legends like Tony Bennett, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, etc. Every time I hear someone in the general public talking about her it's always "wow she has a great voice" or "wow she's so talented, is there anything she can't do?", and I suspect this is only going to grow once ASIB comes out and the award noms start rolling in. Gaga solidified her place in pop culture history and now over a decade later, she's proven that she doesn't need hit singles or radio airplay or millions of YouTube views to maintain a successful and respected career for decades to come. She can address a conference with the Dalai Lama one day, campaign for mental health with Prince William the next, and then receive a standing ovation from all five living former US presidents. How many "pop girls" can say that? Katy might be pulling in the YouTube views but she's still in her GP-backlash era. She may not be as universally hated as Gaga was during the ARTPOP era but I still see "KATY PERRY CRINGE COMPILATION" and "WHAT IS HAPPENING TO KATY PERRY?" videos on Youtube. When the radio airplay stops and the views shrink, will she still be around? Only time will tell.
Taylorrgh 679
it's delusional to think Gaga has had more commerical success than Katy since the beginning of the 2010s #sorry

However, when it comes to a real comeback, I think Katy has bigger chances i doubt it, gaga has so much versatile talent to back her up and worked very had the past few years that she can pretty much do anything she wants since and be successful the GP now finally respect her talent and it's only going to get better with ASIB. katy still has the streams and youtube views unlike gaga but gaga is oscar nominated, 6 time grammy winning, a lead in a movie, a $75-100m vegas show and a legacy in pop music katy on the other hand doesn't have any of the critical claim or praise from endless amounts of legends or versatile talent to pull her back from her backlash era, if anything the odds are far worse for her because the main thing she can rely on is having another hit and as trap/hip hop continues to dominate more as time goes on, it'll get harder and harder for her especially as she gets older thanks to ageism i like katy and she is very likeable but it'll be interesting to see how they'll rebrand her considering she had to tour the whole world just to break $100m touring, i think her future will consist mostly of more american idol judging and dropping singles until one hits https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ

Taide 5,789
The other one has become this aunt in her mid 30's who tries to be seen as a cool in the eyes of GP while constantly relying to the same hit makers and songs without even trying to rebrand her image , while the other one has been a fad since 2011 but is slowly building her image back to where it was and is finally getting recognized by her talent and her non-trendy music. Spoiler Right answer: Both are equally big and have taken different paths in their career that the time will show, if they chose right. Spoiler inb4 I get WP's for this

Katy also has Youtube and Spotify on her side. I mean, I'm okay with any scenario in the future

I mean, I'm okay with any scenario in the future but katy could end up like xtina and just have flop followed by flop even though the music was on trend if she doesn't get a hit and she'll have to rely on being remembered by an older generation until she can impress a new one whilst gaga has roots all over the place to back her up having youtube and spotify (and a tour bundle) hasn't helped Witness that much considering how MR has been out streaming SS for a long time and gaga outsold katy without a tour bundle, a global hit or great YT views https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
Rexx 217
Katy's frozen in time. I'd say nowadays she's on the same level as selena gomez and jessie j. Gaga's talent and versatility put her up with the legends. Even those who don't like her have a hard time to deny she's better than most pop girls put together.
