The entire concept of ARTPOP is something Gaga has basically been talking about since the get go. The only reason Azealia went in on Gaga was the fact that Gaga would not feature her and also because of a fake fanmade leaked tracklist that came out which included "Red Flame" but without Azealia as featured. Azealia thought this tracklisting was real and went on to make her infamous Gaga tirade about Gaga stealing her ideas etc. She never apologized after learning that the tracklist she had seen was clearly a fake.

As for the Venus concept, its such a popular trope. Especially in the year 2013, everyone had roman/greek statues and art featured in their albums (Arcade Fire, Jay Z, Kanye, etc). It was just Gaga riding with the trends to make pop but she tried to make it her own. Its also not like Gaga hadn't had mermaid motifs before Azealia had came out with Fantasea as well. The Edge of Glory initially was a mermaid themed video.

I can't even imagine what else you might've thought Gaga supposedly ripped from or was influenced by Azealia with. Because at the time Azealia was running away from the trap music trend and was focusing on house (as she still does) and Gaga had stated in a chat on lm.com that she was trying to incorporate trap on the album of which azealia was not interested in. which was probably also a factor that ultimately kept azealia off the record.

Shes annoyed because no one has repped the sea punk aesthetic more than azealia. This woman has constantly used the mermaid aesthetic throughout her career. Like come on she even has mermaid tails that she uses to swim in her pool at home. Not to mention that she actually worships the original mermaid, the goddess Yemaya. And now shes annoyed because everyone is gonna give nicki credit for using this mermaid aesthetic and gonna think that shes cool for doing it when AB has been doing it for years.

Yes she shouldnt have gone so mad but i see where her anger is coming from. Not to mention that ever since they made up nicki still paid azealia dust while promoting all these new random rap girls desperate to look like another barbie.

I think you missed her point. These are singers who have dressed up as mermaid maybe once or twice. Azealia is a rapper who has constantly dressed up as a mermaid. Nicki is another rapper all of a sudden dressing up as one.

Literally no one is going to do that though. Nicki is a mermaid for one scene in one video. It’s not like Nicki’s entire aesthetic this era is a mermaid then I could see that happening.
