Pop star, Ed Sheeran is reportedly suing after he was banned from receiving any royalties from his hit, Shape of You.

The song is reported to have racked up £20 million since being released in January last year – however, Ed has not seen a penny since May 10, following a complaint from a singer who accused him of plaigarism.

According to musician Sam Chokri –who uses stage name Sami Switch – large parts of the tune have been directly copied from his 2015 song, entitled, Oh Why.

The performer has won the approval of the Performing Rights Society, who decided to put profits from Ed's hit "into suspense" in May following the accusation.

This means that Ed has made no money from his son being broadcast on the radio, or performed.

However, Ed has now disputed the decision, with his lawyers telling London's High Court that the actions are "damaging reputationally" and have affected Ed's impressive "revenue streams".

Ed's legal team insist that the musician's claims are "false" and Ed's people added that he had “no recollection of ever having heard of Sami Swich, or Oh Why."

This isn't the only legal battle Ed is fighting at the moment, after it emerged that he was being sued a whopping £76.4 million over claims that he had copied elements of Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On in his tune, Thinking Out Loud.

If people actually listened to both songs, they'd notice there are no similarities.

Is there an Ed Sheeran song that hasn't been the subject of plagiarism claims?

I always thought the "owahowahowah" part in Shape of You was sampled from "No Diggity".

Well, i agree there might not be enough to sue over, there are a big similarity if you actually listened to both songs.

Nothing is unique about either.

Repeating a phrase and just singing at a higher note for each repetition should not be something that a musician should be able to sue over

I just listened to “oh why”

and as someone who’s not a fan of ed Sheeran, I must say that I do not hear any similarities.

Can someone help me out here?
