It’s definitely first and foremost about him especially when you factor in the lyrics of the bridge. But as you said about her songs having multiple meanings, the song is *also* a call back to her days on the Lower East Side; a time and place in Gaga’s life where she met Tommy. But I think it’s most prominently about Lüc as most of the BTW love songs were. HML was like a final ode to him of sorts because the bridge is p much the reason they broke up. He couldn’t handle her being more famous and successful than him. That bridge will always give me chills. I don't know why or how I relate with it but I do. For me, it’s because the song is about reminiscing about all this reckless abandon and craziness and fun but then...it gets kind of soberingly real. The vocals aren’t distorted anymore or very weird. They’re girly and a little bad sad. I think it stands out for its simplicity as well as for how it stands opposed to the rest of the song. It’s like she’s spending all the song remembering all their great memories and then the post-chorus is her back in the present realizing **** can’t continue because things have changed. It’s really simply sad and I think that that is what makes it such a good line (that and it’s a great melody that’s attached).
