smokingthemall 1,596
This thread was created from an idea I've been having for the past 2 months. Katy's "Teenage Dream" is literally pop GOLD. Probably her best work and the era was MASSIVE, you could not escape Katy Perry. 'Teenage Dream' garnered a record-breaking 5 #1 singles - which made Katy the first female artist, and 2nd overall, in history to have 5 #1 singles from one album. During that time, Taylor Swift had released, "Speak Now" (one of the best albums I've heard) and that album became her first album to surpass 1 million sales in it's debut week. Then, in 2014, Taylor released her pop record, "1989". The album is pop perfection thanks to herself and her pop titan producers, Max Martin, Shellback, etc... '1989' went on to sell over 10 million records worldwide and has generated 3 #1 singles. The two former enemies have released one of the best pop albums of all time. Aside from the sales and statistics, I've always wanted to know what people mainly preferred. I've asked around and the answered I got was 'Teenage Dream'. So, I'm going to ask you guys. Which do you prefer, or chase your big, beautiful dreams
Teal Ambition 47,805
1989 for sure. It still sounds brand new when I listen to it. The Louvre 3,423
Teenage Dream's candy theme should tell you enough about the quality of the album. It's tooth rottingly sweet and bad for your health. It's said the map of the world is on you. The moon gravitates around you. The seasons escape you.

Fernster7 7,911
I like 1989 more as a full record, but TD's singles are pop perfection. We have two selves. One the world needs us to be, compliant, and the shadow. Ignore it and life is forever suffering.
FRANK1991 3,323
1989 because it's newer so still sounds fresher than Teenage Dream (so overplayed I'm kind of done with it, 1989 was overplayed too but at that point I don't even listen to the radio anymore) Plus I much prefer Prism over Teenage Dream, she gave us Double Rainbow and Ghost, her two best tracks ever. Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

Lucas 25,703
Teenage Dream had better singles but as a whole album, 1989 is far superior and more consistant 2 minutes ago, FRANK1991 said: she gave us Double Rainbow and Ghost, her two best tracks ever. These are my two favorite tracks on the album too, I rarely see praise for Ghost! Your taste is flawless
Damon 10,897
Teenage Dream and E.T. are one of the bests pop songs ever made But 1989 as a whole is better ... and now i just sit in silence.

TropicOfCANCER 6,292
both pale in comparison to this pop masterpiece which has a similar (but better) sound.
Bradley 58,652
Teenage Dream for me. It's filled with bops and the visuals were colorful and impressive. Katy is a decent vocalist in the studio after all, she sounded good on each track. I thought she deserved more credit for that. Totally deserved its Album of the Year nomination.
