Are FOHL Lyrics Problematic?

Now I'm not saying I believe this is what gaga was going for with this song but the lyrics say that you were made for loving a person. It seems as though she is saying that that's the reason she was born instead of serving what she wants to do. Seeing as Scheiße is on the same album I doubt this is what she was going for. But I could see how a feminist could make the argument against this song. How do you perceive the lyrical content of this song?

feminists would be reaching because it's theme of fashion ties in with "being made to love him" just like how high fashion outfits are tailored and made for people plus it being a tribute to mcqueen

I think the song celebrates monogamy more than anything else and instead alludes to one's love being tailored solely to one person, as opposed to different people. I don't think the song mentions anything about only existing for the purpose of a man at all.

It's a tribute to Mcqueen, it isn't a song about Monogamy.

It's not that deep. She's talking about McQueen and how she felt about their friendship and his designs. She is saying she was born to love him and wear his art, it's mostly a song about friendship more than loving fashion, she's mot saying she's meant to love mean and that's it.

Even if you read the song as being about a monogamous relationship with a man (which it isn't), it's not problematic because she is the one saying this. She has agency. "I'm gonna be his first and last kiss," not "he'll make me his first and last kiss." There's an important difference and I think empowering women to do what they want is still good, as long as it's not abusive. FOHL doesn't suggest co-dependence or abuse at all (that would be a reach). We know that she has talked about Bad Romances and cruel relationships with Judases but (again, if you're reading them as a human relationship with a person) she's not promoting them. She's just talking about how it is. She's not telling women to go seek bad romances. Especially in the video, she makes a very empowering point by finally taking control and killing the Monster.

Not sure what to say about the OP... But on that lyric, I've always thought there was some kind of metaphor about being tailored for someone's love the way a dress is custom made for the right person. Reinforced by "I'm physically crafted to be as fitting as McQueen". It's like... McQueen and her were a match made in heaven.

I'm taking about the lyrics OP is mentioning from a broad sense that they believe "feminists" would find controversial. I'm aware the song is a dedication to McQueen.

I don’t think it’s problematic; the song talks about predestination and fate and all that. She’s saying that they were made for each other (her and McQueen). They were soul mates that found one another and their love is so absolutely pure and “as fitting as McQueen”.

It's a metaphor. The song is about her love for McQueen and his designs. The song also say "They say I need a strong man not just a friend. But baby my search is done" So I guess that would make their argument pointless since she's not talking about someone she's in love with romantically. Maybe feminists have listened to the entire song.

Well, people arent that monolithic. she's got lots of faces, personality traits, "hats" if you will and she can't always be a strong female. Sometimes she's gonna submit to her man lol. In fact, thinking more deeply about it, "I wish I could be strong without the scheisse yea." She's not saying she's a strong, independent woman. In reality she's saying she wishes she was, but it's something she struggles with. Gaga is probably codependent af with her personal relationships tbh.
