It is generally looked at as an extreme action to gun down people throwing rocks. One...ONE IDF soldier was injured due to some type of "shrapnel". The extent of that injury is unknown at this time, but it certainly doesn't condone gunning done hundreds of people. 

 

Again thousands of them were charging. You can not arrest thousands of people who want to kill you and have weapons and some are terrorists. Some had bombs, guns, and other weapons and they wanted to harm the people. A country has a right to defend itself. 

If the Palestinians want independence, they are going to have to change there leadership. Their leadership's main goal is the total destruction of Israel, not possible in 2018. Plus there leadership invests in bombs and tunnels, not the Palestinian people.

I didn't call all of them terrorists. But there were a lot of terrorists there who had weapons to harm the people of Israel. I feel bad for the people, but there leadership calls for the total destruction of Israel and invests in tunnels, not the people.

Thousands of them were charging triple barbed wire fences. You can arrest those that get through the first fence, or you can shoot them with rubber bullets. They had bottle bombs, no guns. A full military was set up and was unharmed.

That has nothing to do with shooting people with slingshots, unarmed people, journalists and doctors.

Dr. Loubani, what were you doing just before you were shot?

I was away from the protest scene in a relative lull. There was no smoke or tear gas. There had been lots of that earlier in the day.

I was with my medical team of first responders. They were mostly paramedics.

We had just resupplied for tourniquets, which we used to stop bleeding and people who are shot in the arms or legs.

All of a sudden I heard an incredibly loud bang. I ended up on the ground and the first thing I yell, just as loud as I could, was, "F--k."

And you you were shot in the leg?

I was shot in both legs. The bullet came from the left part of my left leg, went through the left leg and then through the right leg.

The right leg is minor — didn't hit any bones or any muscles. The left leg, though, is really sore. Didn't hit any bones, but definitely did some damage.

Did you have a tourniquet that you could use on your own legs?

I had a tourniquet in my pocket. We had eight left.

The rescuer, a paramedic named Musa [Abuhassanin], came to me and he sort of made a gallows humour comment and then started taking care of me, looked at my leg, and said: "What do you think, doctor? Should we put on a tourniquet?"

I looked at it and I knew that if we were in London or anywhere else we'd tourniquet this thing, but we just had too few and I knew there'd be so many more worse injuries, so I said no.

We bandaged it up as best as we could. It bled like hell for a while, but obviously I was fine. And the tourniquet did get used — the one in my pocket and the other eight were used over the next few hours.

That doctor you just mentioned, a member of your team, Musa, what happened to him?

Musa's my rescuer. He was a very bright guy. Incredible man.

About an hour after he rescued me, he was trying to get another patient, and ended up getting shot in the chest.

Unfortunately, he died.

How many of the medics who were there treating people were injured or killed yesterday?

There were 17 paramedics who were injured plus myself, and then Musa was killed. 

It's unfortunate because we, as a medical team, always hope for and expect some protection. We're not there politically. 

We just want to make sure that if people get into trouble, we're there to help them.

Were you wearing anything, any symbol of being a medic and being a doctor?

I was wearing full hospital greens — London Health Sciences greens, actually, from London, Ont., which I'm going to have to explain to linen why they have bullet holes.

Stop taking sides ffs you are just making it worst.. no one is saint in this conflict, there's no bad guy/good guy, both bad, both killed and kills, so stop.. if you support Israel you support nationalists murderers and if you support Palestine you support nationalists murderers.

It's just a f-cking useless land.. a land, people dies for a land and you support one of the fighters.. so shame on you too people becuase you are adding a fuel to this fight instead doing the best to stop it by taking down their leaders.. no one side leader, both, it's clear that both are sh-t and war criminals and just gives sh-t about their own people.. both are sending kids and babies to the front to die so they'll have something to show to the media and to say "look what they did" like idiots but they never cared about those kids and babies.. I had enough with this sh-t conflict, really. I lost my mom because of this stupid conflict and all I read is people fighting and fighting, trying to justify deadly actions and not even thinking for a second that we, the people who lost the ones they love the most, are dying inside from pain every single day and we keep seeing more and more death.

There were no weapons, they all had rocks or tennis rackets. I never saw a palestinian with a gun, and or bomb. They have been locked in Gaza since 2005 without anything allowed in or out. So like stop calling them terrorists when they cant even leave Gaza or even have food or water.

No, this is wrong. Palestinians were forcibly evicted from their homes in 1948. Nothing would have happened if they were not.

i know this conflict since I’m young, you know it from a bias one sided media.

I lost my mom, I lost friends, Israeli and Palestinian, I lost so much, I don’t want anymore.. not gonna apologize for that.

Ok. Yes, it's a never ending war with senseless deaths. I don't believe that peace will ever be accomplished. 

However, that doesn't mean that the country with the strong military can do what they want against a group of people protesting and rioting. 

I don't have the answers, but I know it isn't right to shoot thousands of unarmed people with exploding bullets. Riots happen all around the world and don't result in dozens of people dead and a thousand with gunshot wounds. That's my feeling or the "side" I'm on in this one instance. That doesn't mean that I have a "side" in the big picture...because I don't.
