I really want to listen but I’m at the library revising :/

already seen someone say it’s dull but it’s the kind of person who’s been intent on trashing them since their last album

Well, that person was right. I loved AM, but this is the complete opposite. A drag from start to finish. You'd really have to be in a certain mood to listen to this. Not my cup of tea though

A Hybrid

Arctic Monkeys have released their sixth full studio album, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino. It's a concept album taking on space, technology and obviously hotels and casinos. It reminds me of David Bowie and The Eagles. I don't know if it will get this community's attention since it's not like AM at all but it's worth a try.

I'm in love with the album and as a big Arctic Monkeys fan, I'd like to score and share my thoughts on each track.

1. Star Treatment 8/10

You probably won't like this song on your first listen. Or maybe second. But this song is great, it's the biggest grower. Shouldn't songs be like this, a nice melody and a singer telling whatever he wants to? Talking about politics, being a musician, being lost, name dropping sci-fi movies? This track is one of the most interesting ones the band has released, yet it still feels kind of unfinished. Maybe that was the point, but as the opener it should've at least had more of an impact on the first listen.

2. One Point Perspective 10/10

This track starts with bullshit lyrics, with an opening like ''Dancing in my underpants'' but it couldn't have been sweeter. The guitar solo in the middle is so strong it makes this track one that doesn't suffer from not having a chorus at all. The lyrics are absolutely fantastic while matching the album's conceptual tone, One Point Perspective is one of the best songs on the album.

3. American Sports 9/10

''Emergency battery pack, just in time for my weekly chat with God on video call'' is just so much fun. We forgot how much fun we can have from lyrics trying to find meaningful ones. The melody is so hypnotizing and the lyrics are once again wonderful. This is the track with a stronger space theme than the ones before, showing its strongest form before the landing which is Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

4. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino 10/10

First time I heard this track I thought, I need to learn how to play and sing this. I spent half an hour perfecting my skills because I knew I had to. Still carrying some bits of the space theme, Tranquility Base welcomes us to the hotel lobby where we observe what's around us and try to find meaning in them, but can we? Some things are just too bizarre like ''Jesus in the day spa, filling out the information form''. But that's what makes the song so good, aside from its Eagles vibe, don't worry guys, we Monkeys don't forget Hotel California.

5. Golden Trunks 6/10

This is a good track, it's just, we're kind of bored of that guitar after the first two seconds, right? It fits well with the album but as a song itself, it's the second to last one I'd choose to listen.

6. Four Out Of Five 9/10

This is probably your best starting song, it's funky, it's catchy, it has a good chorus, ahem ahem. And it's the closest you get to Arctic Monkeys and not Alex Turner. AM fans cry because the album isn't made of songs like this but we never do the same thing twice!

7. The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip 4/10

Boy I wanted to love this song so much, it just doesn't get good. It doesn't fit much either. It's just that weirdo. Anyway, you may still like it.

8. Science Fiction 10/10

This is how you use that guitar, Golden Trunks. The lyrics are top notch, I mean there's literally no flaws I can find in this track.

9. She Looks Like Fun 7/10

This song works, but just because it's fun. If I pursue a musical career, I want to shout ''SHE LOOKS LIKE FUN, CHEESBURGER!'' as well.

10. Batphone 9/10

Ah technology, we love you, we hate you, we use you. But this song definitely sums it up everything up very well. The melody and the lyrics are top notch and it's a good starter for the finish that is called The Ultracheese.

11. The Ultracheese 10/10

Best track by far. Magical. Just listen.

The album is out now!

I’m really not sure how to some up my thought on it well.

I like it and think it’s a gorgeous album, very cohesive but to the point where it almost feels like one song. Bar Four Out Of Five, I do think the album could have benefited from a couple of bigger/different sounding songs just to break it up a bit, maybe even just an acoustic guitar song in between or something. I’m still struggling to remember which songs are which but it’s definitely a good album!

It is definitely their most interesting and daring album. Not what I expected at all

I had mixed feelings in the first listen, but now I'm into it tbh, I like it :applause:

I really like their previous two albums but find it really hard to like this one, perhaps it might grow up on me...that is if I decide to listen to it again
