giskardsb 12,565
The OP title is misleading. The article is not nearly as one-sided.
AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,428
Wtf CNN are deluded "Eventually Lady Gaga's not going to be able to wear the meat dress" --> Irrelevant because she doesn't wear iconic outfits twice Lol Born This Way Ball Americano Performance Art... but yeah I like how they think she hasn't already given us a performance of a regular song with no crazy hat. You and I.... HELLO? i hope these b---hes stay pressed enough to see her latest album flourish before their eyes. :****this:
Dex 117
oh, you kids. they're not saying she's awful, they're just saying she uses a lot of blatant attention-seeking efforts to get where she is. and she has. deal. that's what i like about her - she's an absolute fame***** but it's ok cos she's talented. she's a jammy b---h and i stan. she's hilarious. craig 680
I t's what's led to the so-called "rockist" point of view, he adds: that rock, which was album-oriented and ranged from earnest singer-songwriters to classically inspired progressive bands, was somehow superior to pop, which was found on singles and included bubblegum, disco, easy-listening and anything else likely to make the Top 40. Nowadays the genres are more blurred, but the prejudices remain: Rock is Serious and therefore Art; pop is unserious and therefore ephemeral. It's a distinction that's long been disdained by performers themselves. As the old dictum, variously attributed to Louis Armstrong or Duke Ellington, states: "There are only two kinds of music: good and bad." "I love a show. I want to be entertained," says Matchbox Twenty's guitarist, Paul Doucette, who praises the energy Lady Gaga brings to her concerts (and observes that "she can back it up" with her talent). "Don't get up there and look like you're not having a good time. I've seen enough of the shoegazing in my life. I want fun back in rock." Maybe the rockists, by taking rock so seriously, have squeezed too much fun out of it. Especially sing Grunge, theatricality has been looked down up in rock. Rockists are very narrow-minded about acceptable range of sounds and instruments (synths bad, guitars good). No wonder radio rock started to all sound the same. Dayman 5,981
Yet when GaGa plays piano the general public doesnt care. You only have yourselves to blame if you think GaGa is just about shock value. She doesnt get the credit she deserves for being such a great pianist. This is the most bull**** article I have ever had the displeasure of reading. When they tried to say Adele is more talented I rolled my eyes, by technical standards Adele is not as good a singer as GaGa, Adele is just loud and screams most of her notes. GaGa actually sings and can hit different pitches. I had a whole conversation about this with my musically inclined friends. We are all sick of the general public inccuartley believing Adele is a greater singer than she is, because she just has an average voice overall. I reallyy hate they compared Alicia Keys to Adele, Alica Keys is an amazingly talented beyond Adele. Yet Adele gets some praise like she is a godess sent from Venus. Im just ranting now, this whole entire article is a load of horse ****, I cant even believe anyone thought this was a good idea.
Americano 31,061
What's interesting is that there is no mention of Lady Gaga's high-profile, and heavily advertised, Thanksgiving Special. In that airing, she actually DID sit down in a pretty dress and sing at a piano.
Nagini 179
Gaga IS an attention *****. She likes the attention. She USES this attention and brings it to her music so that people will actually tune in and listen when it comes out. I don't understand why people still don't understand that! craig 680
What's interesting is that there is no mention of Lady Gaga's high-profile, and heavily advertised, Thanksgiving Special. The article isn't really about Gaga, it's using her as "poster girl for pop" to makes points in a discussion of pop theatrics vs rock and "serious" music. Gaga is doing her best to subvert rockist prejudices, but they've been around for decades.

I know, but at the end they specifically state how it'd be shocking for her to strip down a performance and just sit at a piano.. which she did. lol
Galactic Mess 1,393
That's what bothered me the most. They basically said she was a Youtube sensation.. When she's said OVER AND OVER in TONS of interviews that she worked her ass off and went through the lowest ranks of the industry up to the very top. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this :)
