Every era across human history has had many different forms of artistry across many different facets of society. Some people take to it, others don't and that goes for just about every piece of it. Art and fame are not mutually exclusive, being a musician and wanting to be famous is also not mutually exclusive. Being an actor, and being famous...Not mutually exclusive. They make it sound like it's all mutually exclusive for this generation, why can't someone want both? She worked for years to achieve her goals, she was met with both failures and successes along the way. She's a classically trained actress, vocalist, and she uses her creativity to create something not only visual, but sonically tangible for people to either love, like, dislike, or hate. And yes, Gaga is an attention-seeking magnet but not to mention, CNN obviously used Gaga to gain more attention in this article in the first place. BeautyisaLie 1,274 Posted July 30, 2012 Share Posted July 30, 2012 What this people don't seem to understand about her is that if she really wanted attention that much, she could made a reality of her life on tv, launch millions of products (clothes bags, dolls) under her name, etc. Instead she spends time writing, composing and recording material for the next record, and thinks of new ideas for her future performances such as costumes and stage design. She does it HERSELF, instead of letting other people do it in her place, cause she has the talent. We know she does. And I also know that this is not just about showing that talent, she's creating a movement. From the beggining she tried to caught our attention with her controversial music, performances and image, until we get closer enough to discover the inspiring message she has, and put it into action. If Gaga does more than just stand there and sing, people think she is distracting people away from her lack of vocal talent. She does so much during performances because she has a lot of talents that she can choose from. All of the "extra" stuff she puts into some of her performances arent needed, because her vocal talent is high. Its why she can wow people doing something like the 2009 VMA performance in which she shows off every one of her talents, and wow people doing something like her Edge of Glory performance on Stern, in which she just uses her voice and a piano. Both are great performances while being vastly different. When people say **** like Adele doesnt do anything but sing, they have to realize that if she wanted to do more than sing she couldnt, because her talents are limited. Adele couldnt sing and dance at the same time if she wanted to because she has no dancing talent (at least given her size). Gaga is talented in both areas so she can do both when she wants to. One era where she dresses fashionably but not avant garde, brings out some incredible music, has interesting performances but isn't shocking. Goes through a whole era of being a musical goddess and nothing more, proving to these ****s that she IS an artist. Then, at one awards show, when she's expected to be 'Normal Gaga' she appears on the red carpet as so, then comes out and shocks with something crazy and a brand new song as if nothing had changed. And the song can be crazy dance pop again but with a strong message that she can be who she wants to be, and her elaborate performances don't make her any less of an artist. We all know she isn't a pop artist anyway, she's a performance artist. Music is just one side to her, but it will be nice when she does concentrate solely on music one day. That's not something one can say for Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney, Elvis, Whitney etc. and I really think that those who question her musical ability and artistry should remember that. It's a bit insulting on a publishers and authors who have some credit in their field, but until they do interviews and watch previous ones and see the artistry that they have paved for themselves, then they have no right or place to release a statement or article.
