She’s not and it’s fine. She’s coming to her own. I just wish that Ari will grow deeper as an artist. I feel like that’s the only thing preventing her from being a top class act.

It’s hard to have a career like Mimi, stastics would say that she’s one of the biggest artist ever. She literally dominated the whole 90’s. Sure, there were other acts but no one was as consistent as Mariah.

I’m not some delusional Mimi fan but to say that she has no contribution in music or impact is far more delusional. She didn’t do it first but she paved the way for female popstars to get more comfortable with featuring rappers and leaning more into R&B. America’s sweetheart getting cosy with hip-hop acts was unheard of that time.

She wrote 17 of her 18 number one hits. Emerged from a career sabotage from her former husband. She influenced a lot of singers to pursue a singing a career, heck, even Beyoncé said it. So before making any statement that she didn’t contribute anything, think twice. Her voice alone, in it’s peak form combined with her songwriting ability is something we’ll most probably see just once in a lifetime. So give her a little respect.
