Everybody has always said that gaga changed pop culture but I never understood it in full force until this article. Thinking back to 2008 when Just Dance came out radio was pretty bland. It was all party songs and hip hop Timbaland, maybe some Britney, but pop culture was dead. I remember I discovered her from iTunes because she was featured. I didn't think twice about her and assumed it was another bizarre unknown artists I'd never hear about again. I think the biggest thing I took away from this article was that Gagas ascent to fame with just dance was much more daunting than I thought. Wtf Jimmy giving just dance to *** cat dolls xD. Such a low blow "oh yeah you can write great songs but I don't want to promote you because you're too much like Gwen Stefani, but you know I will take what you wrote and give it to your lessers". Noooot a good feeling on the ego. And the thing about Akon.. This is just me assuming but akon fought hard to promote her from a business standpoint. She was on his label and he did in fact promote her because he knew she would be a legend. But I can't help but feel like he was motivated by the mega millions he would get from her reign in pop culture. The "jumping ship" comment was true but I don't think he meant it in a negative way towards her. From a business standpoint. Still his loss, she is the most talented, and legendary artist of our time and I'm so thankful to have been able to grow up with her. Akon is so full of it when you consider the artists he's promoting now. Gaga even "in decline" is worth his whole roster put together. The joke was on him. Bad business sense for sure.
