Reputation: only album that sold 2M copies in the last two years

Taylor Swift knows exactly what she’s doing. She is surely executing a no-doubt extensive plan that will only make sense to us in hindsight, as does all things. 

As per not promoting, I’m sure that she is well aware of what she is not doing lol. I still think 4 videos can be considered promotion? Don’t worry about her haha, she is a highly competent business woman as proven by herself again and again. 

There are are two things I’m sure of on this day: 1) The sun will rise tomorrow, and 2) Taylor Swift knows exactly what she’s doing.

While I agree with the notion that more promotion would have given this album more longevity, it's still sold incredibly well. I'm tired of seeing people acting like she flopped

WOW they are big numbers nowadays esp with hardly any promotion or discounts. Lets face it Ed turned up everywhere, so did Gaga with million reasons. Her doing hardly anything youve got to give it to her.. We should appreciate success, not knock them down, thats negative. Wouldnt you be proud if you had a member of your family achieved that? Cut the bitchiness nobody wants us to be that, hasn't gaga taught us anything? Like her or not she deserves a high five!  (not aimed at anybody).

Hard to compare it to Adele because its a different age demographic to streamers or downloading for free plus it was a Christmas gift for people and mothers day gifts and on the list as one of the best selling albums of all time. Reputations only been out a few months too with less of a gap between albums. Taylors not even on tour yet. The numbers are impressive for what it is. 

Im not her biggest fan, I dont even know what her fans are called but she's done well!

That's pure speculation. Did Blank Space need a televised performance to go #1 for weeks and weeks? No. Did Shake It Off? Hell no. Promotion would probably have helped a little, but her singles would still flop/underperform.

What truly drove Taylor's singles last era was RADIO. And RADIO ain't here for Ms. Swift this era at all.

Reputation crossed 2 million yada yada yada. You know what else? It's also the last mark it'll reach. It won't ever reach 2.5 million, let alone 3.

And at the end of the day, the album is selling less than 10k weekly now and it hasn't crossed 3.5 million WW. 

AT BEST it'll go on to reach 4 million, which is down SIXTY PERCENT from her last album. That right there, my dear, is worse than Gaga's decline from TF to BTW. It's one of the biggest declines for major pop girls in recent memory, if of all time.

So to claim this era is by any means some sort of success is ridiculous. The public at large has lost interest in Taylor. Her worldwide fame only truly lasted one era (1989), so in the memory of the GP worldwide, she's only really known for one era and is in the eyes of the WW GP a one-era-wonder. 

And to end my essay with another "funfact": Gaga and Taylor had similar declines, but only one of them (Gaga) had actual hits during that same decline (Born This Way and The Edge of Glory)

It wasn't a drag but okay.

The facts were presented as "Reputation reached the 2 million milestone in its 18th week of release ... 1989(3 weeks), Red (5), Speak Now (6), Fearless (7) and her self-titled debut (61)."

This album clearly did not connect with the public as her previous efforts and it's also evident in the music video views and streams.

That's a lousy excuse. She had Best Buy trucks driving around with the Reputation album cover and tons of other ridiculous things. Just because she didn't do televised performances does not mean the album wasn't promoted.

The interest in her has faded drastically even the first day the lead single came on lots of people's reactions were negative. 

Premiering music videos during award shows, having a televised performance on GMA and Jimmy Fallon and the usual Taylor promo stunts would have done wonders last era, but they did sh!t for her this era.

No one buys albums, 2 million is nothing compared to 10 or more years ago. People who report dropped albums sales and blame it on an artist are lame because no matter how great you are you still almost nothing unless you get old people to buy.

Well her last album sold 10 million. This one will sell UNDER 4 million. So the point would be pretty clear. 

Beyonce went incognito and she became mysterious and the biggest presence in music today. Taylor did the same and no one cared lol.

I think she didn't promote (her being exposed to the public e.g. live performances, interviews) because she would have been overexposed to a GP that gave up on her the moment her nice girl act came crashing down.
