Quark 7,098
o<(0_0)>o In my opinion, Gaga shouldn't go back to pop. I say this because Gaga has always been better suited for non pop genres like Rock, funk, and Jazz. There is a reason why she is praised when she covers artists from others genres. Her pop music is great, it has always been a bit different, and she was very successful with it. But that only speaks of her versatility. She just has so much untapped potential that will be uncovered if she goes deeper into other genres. Joanne was a good direction for her simply because the non pop genres and her voice were finally highlighted more. But critics are always asking for her to fully embrace other genres instead of just barely touching them. The Cure was a good commercial song but people are always expecting more from someone as talented as Gaga. Her new music should still have pop touches but the non pop genres and the experimentality should be the main focus. After so many acclaimed performances, C2C, and Joanne, going back to just typical pop or familiar Gaga pop, will dissapoint many.
PopMonstre 628
I don't care what genre she works in I'll buy it and listen the hell out of it.
ryanripley 86,575
she can do whatever genre she wishes and i'll like it (minus trap/hip hop) but Joanne is my favourite album and i would absolutely love for more rock music from gaga in the future hopefully something harder than Joanne https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
shame 25,360
Who cares what critics want tho I still want her to do pop music, but I agree that it wouldn't hurt to have influences from other genres that can work well with pop like disco, r&b, trance or even punk. (But God forbid she releases a death metal album ) Delving beyond the typical pop formula and experimenting is what has always made Gaga's music wonderfully eclectic from the get-go but immersing herself completely in a different genre would kinda seem like a betrayal because the whole essence of Gaga is this over-the-top POP persona. Plus, what would pop music do without Gaga to save it? angels forever, forever angels
Twitter 14
Gaga has what it takes to deliver good pop album and #1 hit singles. I think in the past few years she chooses not to fall in the pop scene so much, which is fine. Sometimes I think she forming some strategic plan to take over the music industry again and secretly waiting until the right timing. She entered the music industry with POP and she shall stick with pop. But she can do whatever genre she wants.
Edonis 28,950
Everything she’s done so far has been nothing but pop, so I’m failing to see how she could “go back” to a massive genre she never left. Do you mean electronic music? Because then I would hate to hurt some feelings by saying this, but her most critically acclaimed music has been electronic pop, not necessarily the other pop genres. Anyways, she’ll do what she wants, sonically speaking.
zakariah 11,722
Imagine if she releases a C2C-esque album every 2 years or so, she's gonna be the Female Tony Bennett & snatch Best Traditional Pop Album every time at the Grammys lmao Anyways, I'm kind of over her music career atm tbh, i'm more interested in her film career & more importantly if she can even be a good actress or not. I used to think that acting is based on natural talent but after hearing Frances McDormand say she had to train in acting, I have hopes for Miss Gaga now lmao. Also she would still retain her pop essence.
Ronk 14,762
She can slay outside of pop. Her jazz is amazing, she was great with Metallica, Sound Of Music was awesome, and she's great at rock. She will excel at anything she does. I live outside the space time continuum.

I am just basically saying she should go deeper into other genres, regardless of their sound.

If she does a genre, I think it would work best if she embraces it fully for an era, and not water it down. I live outside the space time continuum. blackthorns 487
I'm happy if she quits pop to go into alternative, rock, and metal. Otherwise? no thanks. How does she do that without introducing pop influence into other genres? I guess we disagree on this point. I think if she does metal it should be purely metal with no pop influence. Same with jazz, etc. I'm talking about an era, not a lifetime. I live outside the space time continuum.

Bad Romance melodies are basically metal melodies with a pop sound. So it won't be hard for her to transition full on.
