sorry, i'm only including studio albums in the OP and thread but if her EPs or mixtapes are your absolute favs, feel free to let it be known!

so i've finally been going through M.I.A.'s discography and i've listened to AIM, Matangi and Maya and i think Matangi has the most tracks i like so far BUT Maya has some really golden tracks like BORN FREE and MEDS AND FEDS :firega:

all of her music seems to really resonate with me because of her adult age but absolute rebellious attitude  she's f*cking awesome

which one is yours and why?

There's no M.I.A if there's no Arular. It's quintessential M.I.A., one of album you need to hear before you die

The album works so well. It's political af but so catchy sounding.

And it's the first time where Diplo was first producing for another people, and booming, too. So a golden ticket for him too.

I love MAYA. Meds and Feds is my jam and I can picture it being played at a party or club with heavy bass and driving everyone crazy. Of course her first two albums are classics and I respect that but Matangi also has some great tracks, YALA and Bring The Noize. I think my least favorite is AIM simply because it's the one I've listened to the least and only Visa catched my attention.

Kala. It's definitely the one I've listened to the most. Every song has its own distinct style.

And Paper Planes slays all and sits atop a throne of skulls of the vanquished.

Yea, AIM is a bit lacking. Not to say it is a bad album, it is like if her first 3 albums are 11, AIM is at 8

Kala is my favorite, I like the Indian and African sounds..

And I think it's her most pure experimental.. from MAYA it was like "commercial" experimental and she lost her spark a bit.. I guess thanks to Paper Planes success..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

As an M.I.A. fan that’s followed her since her debut, I can agree that AIM is a weak album. It’s disappointing as a conclusion to her career, especially when every demo to come from the sessions are better than what made the tracklist :toofunny:
