It's better than a lot of stuff Dr. Luke has produced, but, you know, it's still a majorly Dr. Luke-produced album, you know? He knew how to make great hits back then, but it was always the same recipe. I see The Family Jewels as "weirdo but still authentic" Marina, FROOT as "reflective and still authentic" Marina, and Electra Heart as "commercial" Marina, which made a bit of herself disappear, I think. The songs themselves are good, well-written; I just find it a bit tiring to listen to the album in full sometimes because of the production because of its lack of originality. You know what I mean? I still love it though. There are some major BANGERS on there. And beautiful songs too.

Yes of course, by overrated I, by no means, meant a bad album, it has beautiful songs, but yes I agree, it sounded too much of Marina handing over the writing while I expected more of Marina's personal style, which is beautiful on it's own, so I totally get you. I just really like hearing more Marina than things boppy, I like her experiments, how people can't much put her in a box because she's all over. Froot was beautiful and a mature TFJ, it's like EH was an album for Marina to grow and learn about the industry, and Froot was a mix of how she learned from both albums, so EH stays a bit back there for me, it's good but, doesn't give me the aura her other albums give. I still love it though. There are some major BANGERS on there. And beautiful songs too. For me, I have a very personal, and deep appreciation for this album. I don't care who produced it or if it sounds commercial. For me, this album is so deeply creative and personal. I love the whole concept behind EH, and the story it tells. But more importantly, I love the meaning behind the album and songs. Marina wrote it, from what I see, as a way to channel her depression. And this album is a perfect representation of how my depression is, and how I feel about myself and love when I'm very depressed. It's almost like her and I experience the same type of thoughts about ourselves, and almost the same type of depression. I truly feel almost like she wrote the album for me, because every song I can relate to in some deep, meaningful way. I'm not really explaining this well, as I have trouble expressing out loud how I feel about this album and my connection with it, but it has a very special place in my heart. So thank you Marina for making this masterpiece, and making me feel like I'm not alone with how I feel with my depression

In no way was it my goal to bash the album itself; the part I felt was less "personal" to Marina, where we kind of "lost" her touch, in my opinion, was really in the production, not in the songs themselves. But thanks again for the insight, it might change my own perspective when I listen to the album again!
