YOU stop; stop trivialising the incredibly violent and barbaric homophobic practices rampant within archaic, Abrahamic religions such as Islam. Educate yourself on the Qu’ran and the Bukhari hadiths before speaking on sh*t you evidently don’t know. Quotes from Bible Leviticus 24:16 NLT: Anyone who blasphemes God’s name must be stoned to death by the whole community of [believers]. “In the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.” (Romans 1:27) Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB: But if [a girl wasn't a virgin on her wedding night] and evidence of the girl's virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her father’s house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against God’s people by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. Quran and Bible were written hundreds and hundreds of years ago and the text in both of those books is full of violence. So you can add Christianity to your list of archaic religions full of barbaric and homophobic practices.

OT: @Melech just so you know, I can see what kind of posts you’re favoriting in here about being tired of defending the “trash religion that is Islam” and how western liberals are stupid to try to defend Muslims as a peaceful group of people, all because one of the most conservative communities in the world acts conservative. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind every time you try to feel victimized in other threads when you get called out for your bullshit. I expect it from some members in here because quite frankly they don’t know much, but considering you’re always getting into subjects of religion and have yet to grasp the concept that people’s interpretation and religious values vary, I’m still a bit surprise. Just a heads up. Sis imma PM you and give you some deets. The good sis @lego and I have been on this site long enough to know the Tea. Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us. melon 3,668
I look forward to a day when there is no religion, only faith that through peace, love and tolerance humanity can achieve anything. Religions have messed this world around so much and continue to ruin people’s lives. I’ve studied Islam and Christianity (at university) and always laugh when people defend either. But the main difference is that Christianity did reform majorly and that today in the Western world, it has largely become basic guidelines of being a good neighbour but not an ardent worshipper. Islam at the time of its conception as a religion was actually quite progressive as a set of beliefs, but over time just has not adapted to changing moral standards. Or I guess, it has created such deep moral standards of its own that it just hasn’t been forced with a crisis such as Protestantism and the Reformations with Christianity. I do question the people who claim Islam is a religion of peace, as having actually studied the formation of the religion (and got a very good grade on my module) it was centred around spreading the belief system quickly, while the founders conquered nearby peoples for the next few centuries... The religion itself put people of other faiths at a huge disadvantage if they lived in a conquered territory, having to pay extra taxes, so many just converted. Also, leaving the religion was (and still is in many places) punishable by death. Tl;dr I don’t respect really any religious beliefs, I believe in compassion and humanity and old texts and traditions are not needed for either. I do respect individuals’ rights to practice a faith so long as they don’t hurt other people or infringe on others’ rights. However I will never respect religious ideologies, they cause too much suffering and pain and I can’t believe that in 2018 I am petrified of going to certain countries because they are so ardent in their defunct ways, that I’d risk being hurt or incarcerated for just being myself. And yes to make it clear, a lot of those countries are Islamic, but a lot are Christian nations (e.g. Jamaica) and I would not feel entirely safe being gay in a Hindu nation such as India. My heart genuinely goes out to everyone in these nations who doesn’t fit in and can’t just live as free as I have been able to. show me to me please

This is not true. This generalization is that type of thing that usually puts a Christian against a Muslim and viceversa. Just because we don't go on religious wars anymore (Crusades say hi) or we don't have any important, or real I should say, theocratic systems, that doesn't mean that Christianity today has only put "basic guidelines of being a good neighbour but not an ardent worshipper". Maybe that's the case where you are from but the rest of the world is another story. The impact that these two religions have had is pretty much the same, especially when it comes to LGBT rights. I live in Italy and you have no idea the impact that Catholicism has had on my culture. Of course they can't ban gay sex here or put us in conversion camps because thankfully we live in a democracy but that doesn't change the fact that the same kind of fanatics/extremists you can find in Islamic countries can also be found in Christian ones. Perhaps Christian barbarities do not have the same mediatic resonance of Islamic ones but they still happen. And I don't really care about the form of the violence: violence is violence, whether you kill, torture, bully, ban stuff and so on. Moreover, this whole "religion of peace thing" needs to stop. If you're talking message-wise... have you ever read the Bible? The same **** you can read in the Quran, can also be found in the Bible. Maybe only the New Testament is a little better when it comes to its overall message. But the rest is pretty much the same. If we're talking about how the religion spread instead, that's also pretty much the same. The only thing is that Christians only remembers that they were persecuted and not persecutors too. And I do agree with the rest of your statement, just not that part in particular. I know I went a little off-track with this comment, but I needed to make this point. Not only to you, but really to everybody. Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?
