I think his continued tweets of saying that we need gun control now is pretty revealing. Regardless, it's an extremely inappropriate time to be mocking anyone so carelessly. He could've at least made a clearer statement instead of that mess...

This is horribly worded but I think he's saying that this is the truth that people actually believe that. Not that he himself believes it. He forgot quote marks. It's not sarcastic because he's not exaggerating.
