Well, it's a good thing we have on GGD so many insiders, who know how much effort all these not so worthy artist have put into their songs. There is always a reason why person A get's famous and person B not. And you should not forget, why Gaga became famous in the first place, because she was also just a product of the industry, fyi.

Let's face reality, A looks good and he was born in a family that is part of the industry or has some contacts.

Don't tell me every kardashians would have been famous if they were all born in a different family

I literally said none of those things:awkney:

I mean that different people like different artists for different reasons. So you're judging JB as an artist on his songwriting abilities, but that's just one aspect of the craft. I can also judge Adele for not dancing and J.Lo for not singing about politics.

Okay I got what you mean. But I was not only pointing Justin Bieber, I even listen to his songs I like 'em, this is not against him, he was just an example.

Wasn't Usher like his mentor and made him to what he was at young age?

I don't watch Kardashians, so no idea what you talking about and what it has to do with Bieber.

you're not even trying to understand, but no prob. Everybody has different opinions and I'm not saying mine is better and yours worst. We're here to discuss and not to impose opinions. That's why it was a Question thread. You answered and I heard you, thank you

well Lemonade had a small community of writers (more than 30 writers :toofunny:; most of the songs are sampled so no surprise there) and it was great. on the contrary, Joanne had only 12 people and still delivered quality.

i believe that it really depends on how well these writers can collaborate with each other to deliver the artist's goal in a song.

I just saw that Gaga usually has between 2-4 songwriters including herself and 4-6 producers including herself. this is what I call an artist.

Like seriously, Justin bieber or any other singers like him, get out and let talented people take your place

They could be talented, just not in writing. Oh well. If they are good performers and singers then why shouldn’t they have their success? They must work very hard as well and to be a great performer is also incredibly difficult and a very rare talent.

On top of that, maybe that’s the way the artist likes to work. Sometimes hanging out and collaborating is a fun way of working and you appreciate the product more in the end. We also don’t know how much one contributed to become a “writer” on a song. It could be a lot or very little, it isn’t specified. Making radio hits is no easy thing and often requires many opinions and perspectives because it has to appeal to a lot of people.

So circumstances are what they are. Don’t fault an artist for not being able to be everything. You don’t have to like the work, obviously (Bieber’s material has never been my thing), but I wouldn’t say he’s undeserving of his success. That’s mean-spirited.

Yes. Beyoncé’s process has been explained before where she really takes it song by song. It’s only natural you’d have that many songwriters for an album when you approach the process that way. She’s the glue of the album, everyone else makes contributions.

Gaga operates differently where she assembles pretty much one core team for everything give or take a few people.

It’s just different artistic processes.

So what? The number of writers don't really matter to the quality of the song. In fact, it might improve a song. I'm not saying it's Bieber's case, but still, accusing a song of having too many writers is just annoying. Plus, lots of incredibly talented vocalists sing songs written by others, and you would never point a finger on them. It's normal, yes.

And Company has seven writers, not eleven.

These threads are always an excuse to say how awesome Gaga is because she writes her own songs, but she has also been a product of a good creative team, so let's not shade different artists. In the end, the result is what matters. And the result of Purpose is an album that reached millions of people and made his fans happy, had an enormous impact in music by bringing tropical house/pop to the scene and is his best album to date.

Irrelevant

Applause had 8 writers, is it genuine? Just because there are a lot of writers, doesn't mean the workload between these writers are the same. For Justin it's most likely 2 main people writing the song (Justin and the main producer.) RedOne only wrote one line on BR and got credit.

Also JB is listed as the main writer in all of these songs except Love Yourself, so what's your point.
