Joanne is the most GP friendly album she's released to date. That's actually *exactly* what she should have done to regain popularity--and it worked. Million Reasons is a very popular song, and the GP now sees her as a talented artist instead of a crazy performer. Releasing Joanne was the safest and, quite frankly, blandest move she could've made. A real "IDGAF" move would've been to release more experimental pop music.

But you know what? That’s completely normal, it has happened to every artist that is or was once big, it happened to Michael Jackson, it happens right now to Britney, Madonna, etc. The one thing that keeps me wondering is why it happened so soon to Gaga... madonna is not the same energetic and creative woman she used to be in the 80s but she’s been around for decades, its understandable considering her age and how long she’s been in the industry. same as Britney, if you watch her recent performances she’s not even the shadow of who she used to be in the 90s, BUT she was still slaying and delivering in her SIXTH ALBUM. (Circus) Gaga’s popularity and success began falling right after The Fame Monster, sure she was still controversial and somewhat relevant but it feels like since Born This Way nothing has been the same anymore, her videos are getting more and more generic and predictable every time, and this has nothing to do with the Joanne concept, which I actually liked, I still remember when you never knew what to expect when it came to a new Gaga video, her performances are getting less energetic and completely lack that “Gaga creativity” that they used to have. Like I said, I’m not being delusional or salty, this is just part of every artist career, I just wonder why it happend just as early as AFTER HER 3RD ALBUM, back in 2011/2013 would you have believed that Gaga would be doing Vegas residency this soon? What do you think? Girl, look at you having a hit thread

Moreover, if you look at the entire Cheek to Cheek tour, she radiates happiness and creativity. Maybe... just maybe.... the way one expresses his or her creativity can change when someone matures. Exactly. Gaga has gotten sick and needs to focus on figuring out how to make her body feel at ease the best that she can, with no cure out there for her illness, give her a break. Everyone can see how hard she has tried to complete each era with all of the excitement that she could gather and many times she was successful, all the while hiding her both emotional and physical problems from all the world, including us Little Monsters. Gaga will take some time for herself and come back a better person and entertainer, as her will to live out her dream allows. She hasn't lost one bit of the talent and that is proven every time she performs. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
Dunk96 2,526
Michael NEVER lost his creative spark. I mean hello, when he died he was preparing the greatest concerts of all time that unfortunately never came to fruition. Even when the second round of those sh*t allegations happened in 2003 he was planning to come back and dominate the world after the One More Chance shoot in my hometown was done, but those damn allegations f*cked everything up and for a period he went away after the acquittal. But he never lost his drive or creative spark.
scallywally 626
Michael... Madonna NEVER lost it! or hasn't lost their spark. omg. Britney decides what she wants to do, Its her choice to go down a calmer route. Tell you what, shes still selling out and YouTube her - there are comparisons. Shes ****ing killing it more than we can at the moment shes bangin like the old days. Try buying a ticket! Gaga's her own amazing artist, we love her, we will have a soft spot for her and will be interested forever. The spark thing - I wouldnt say shes lost it. Has she cocked up here and there? 'Bigly' but you know, lets look on the bright side...Once youve got the spark im sure it stays inside. No need to drag other amazing artists into it. Each to their own! The gang warfare here is pitiful. We need to get over that ****.
nattuggla 21,799
Um have you watched the Superbowl Halftime Show?! This was by no means generic or predictable she is still able to slay and definitely hasn't lost her spark it's just she represented her spark differently in recent times. I think she is going back to extravaganza but still classy for LG6 (like it was in her The Fame era....)
FameHookah 4,595
omg the drama, she is just trying to rebuild her image after the BTW and ARTPOP messes and guess what, it worked! Joanne gave her the superbowl, (not the grammy as she and we all thought tho) and gave her the opportunnity to grow as an artist and try new things while showing everyone her talents, the next logical step is go all in commercially, and believe me, she wants that badly, it shows, now lets hope the next era has a very catchy commercial hit and she will be fine (popularity wise) WTF is MDNA

It's not that we want the "crazy outfits" back, it's just that we feel like she's been way too concerned about public's perception in recent years. Yes it was necessary to strip it down and showcase her raw talent, but I think she's already achieved that with the Oscars/National Anthem performances, and I think the whole Joanne era was just an overkill and everything screams "look at how normal and talented I am!" and I lowkey hate that. Gaga used to be a ruthlessly creative misfit - that was her brand. And now she's become the exact opposite, and even when GP praises her it's always backhanded compliments like "thank god she's not wearing those stupid outfits anymore. She used to be an attention *****!" She's building respect at the expense of her original legacy. She can go back to The Fame style outfits and looks, THAT was the perfect balance it went downhill since TFM everyone was scared at her videos and makeup/outfits. Ack1234 500
Everyone is different and enjoys different artist , imo I think gaga could have gone on forever however last few years she has been letting a lot of fans down and has lost a lot . Michael was then once all the trouble started he lost it .madg imo never had it ( for me ) . And now gagas falling like I said everybody's different and I did love gaga but the cancelled Joanne tour was the last straw for me and many more so now need to find someone else to spend my money on . Oh come on everybody expected her to tone down, the reinvention was safe and predictable. You know what would really be "IDGAF" and "unexpected"? That she did not care about any criticisms she received from ARTPOP and kept going with her "weird outcast" brand instead of detouring and trying to impress the public. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the "went downhill since TFM" statement, but I see what you mean. TF was her last record that felt totally burden-free. The music is universal and straightforward. Ever since then her music and persona is always dragged down by relentless over-conceptualizations.
