Poll: 2 percent say they’ve benefited from GOP tax plan with raise or bonus

Only 2 percent of American adults reported receiving a bonus, a bump in pay or another perk due to the Republican tax overhaul passed in December, a new survey found.

Twenty-seven percent of respondents in the Reuters/Ipsos poll said they believe the legislation will increase the amount they pay in taxes, while 24 percent said they think they will pay less in taxes and 23 percent did not anticipate their tax payment will be altered.

A third of the respondents polled said the new legislation made them more likely to cast a ballot for a Democrat, while a quarter of those surveyed said the same for a Republican. 

GOP lawmakers have commended companies like Walmart for announcing bonuses or additional employee benefits due to the tax law’s passage late last year. Democrats have slammed the legislation, which President Trump signed into law before the New Year, as a tax cut for the wealthy.

They survey was conducted from Jan. 12-23, polling 5,254 individuals. It has a credibility interval of 2 percentage points.

If it's like Canada's last "middle class tax cut" which Trudeau gloated about Ur in for a  disappointment

 

I saved like $3 a week cuz only a small fraction of my $50,000 a year income reached the bracket they call middle class

 

No word of lie I was cheesed. Those savings don't even pay for a latte at Starbucks

Ikr? But at the same time is it worth it for them to loose support with such a huge financial cost to America?

 

Would be better if they lost support another way.

 

This is expected to add $1.5 Trillion more to the debt over next several years than what would of been added without the changes

 

Borrowing costs in America have also gone up nearly 40% since these tax cuts as investors demand higher bond yields for higher risk of default down the line. Now the 10 year yield is at almost 2.8%. a rapid jump since the tax cuts when it was barely above 2%

Just saw my paycheck. It’s $50 higher. So I’m gonna be making $100 more a month which is actually quite significant for me. Not mad about it tbh.

Yes. But I don’t have huge expenses cuz I still live home with my parents. So this extra $100 a month will be nice to have.

Great! I will buy a couple extra packs of gum with my "tax cut" 

 

My dad actually saves more than me on his paycheck cuz his income is higher but the previous tax cut of income splitting for couples with kids saved him even more cuz it gave him massive returns on income taxes but Trudeau cancelled it for this inferior cut
