and more: the fact that there is no good treatment model for pedophiles is not proof that we as a society are remiss. maybe there is none. or maybe there is none that has been discovered. to stand here at this hour and say mental illness = treatable seems flawed. mental health is a true science with physiological underpinnings. when we know the brain chemistry of a pedophile, when it can be treated with a pill, then I'll agree to a discussion about compassionate care. all murder is essentially sociopathic but it is treated like a crime except in those instances where an insanity plea is supported by a wider view of the murderer's mental health. 

but most places that suffer from issues like this see a callous disregard for victims and an impulse to protect the accused at heavy cost, at a communal level and this is coming way too close imho. i can accept that the only path to healing on a societal level must spring from acceptance of those troubled individuals that seek help but I also feel that we run the risk of losing something of the natural revulsion healthy people rightly feel towards this and other forms of sexual perversion, rape for instance, if we would use language that places violent criminal pedophiles side by side with people who suffer from depression or anxiety.

As someone stated before, being a pedophile isn't illegal in itself. Acting on it is.

In my book, watching child p0rn is considered as acting on it.

Saying these people need help is true, BUT those who acted on it deserve all they get. It's totally possible to completely ignore a sexual desire of yours. You can totally ignore the fact that you are a pedophile, never talk about it, and never do anything about it.

I'm pretty sure plenty of people ignore their sexual desires for numerous reasons (religious, mostly), so when a pedophile can't control themselves like this, I say it's on them.

But I think the fact he killed himself says a lot about his possible innocence - that he couldn't live with the fact people thought he could do that.

I don't see how. There's no known cure for it, so why even bother trying ? The day it'll be curable I'll be all in for them getting the cure, but as of right now the only thing they can do is not do anything bad... which means ignoring their desire.

I just read that, sick bastard. I think the fact that he has killed himself is to do with the guilt and it is completely different to traditional reasons for suicide. People often kill them selves due to esteem issues, money issues, bullying- where as he killed himself because he is a sick, grotesque man who isn't worthy of life.

Suicide, and mental issues which progress onto suicide, need to be taken seriously, yes. So does paedophilia.

I think this thread would look very different if the news was about anonymous old ugly man committing suicide after pleading guilty for possession of child ****.  

Other sexual abusers and rapists should seek help too, people like Trump or Weinstein.

But if they would kill themselves, I doubt we would be thinking about their families, feeling so sad and sorry and talking about treatments.

But people aren’t saying “ohh boo I feel so sorry for that poor man!” What we’re saying is, don’t treat a mental disorders and people who suffer from them like this. It’s still a mental disorder. Imagine people dismissing someone’s depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc., just because they don’t understand it. Yes, what he did was disgusting. Yes, he should be charged and punished for acting on his impulses. But does he deserve to die? No. He should have checked in with a mental facility or something. Anything to help him. He f*cked up. But to say that he deserves to die is... gross.

It seems he actually has victims - he paid for people to rape kids, film it and send to him, this is his collection.

He had folders with files, each file was the child's name.

He had a manual that he sent to people of "how to have sex with a 3 years old girls"

He paid 50k$ to each victim after he plead guilty.

This is his collection, not a bunch of random pics that he found on the dark web.. he REQUESTED them, like a side job that he had..
