My opinion: He was referring to who’s been counted in the US as a citizen and slaves were counted at one time as 3/5. Still wild that he mixed that up on live television. If not... how do you go about your life equating, in your mind, black people with being slaves? And even if you did think such a thing, why on earth would you say it on national TV? Edit: They were having a discussion about redistricting; and ever since the 14th amendment, every citizen has been counted as a person, whether they were a former slave or not (previously, due to the 3/5ths rule, enslaved black people did not count as a full person for the purposes of congressional representation). I'm pretty sure this guy was referring to said amendment, and was talking about the change in disposition of former slaves, hence why he said that. Looks more like a bad choice of words than racism to me. Or he could be a racist; I don't know him. But given the discussion that was being had, it looks like this is an out-of-context shock clip. @Morphine Prince, this is your last chance... to edit... for. your. life. It still blows my mind that even though statistically, the 3/5 rule made sense in terms of limiting the effect of slavery on Southern congressional power, that many people didn't realize that they were literally Constitutionally codifying the fact that black people were less than.
