DiscoHeaven23 35,007
This is purely singles based, nothing to do with albums. Female artists who got Top 10's in the early 2010's (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), are now struggling to get top 10 singles or keep them there for more than a week or two. Examples include: Katy, Gaga, Miley, P!nk, Kesha, Britney and Kelly Clarkson and to some degree Taylor Swift This left a drought for female artists in the top 10, aside from Adele and Rihanna who were big in the early 10's and have continued to be successful (Ariana was more mid-2010's) But in the last few months a new generation of female artists began entering the Top 10. This generation's new standouts are Halsey, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Cardi B All four girls currently have a song in the Top 10. While these aren't the girls of the early 2010's, I'm totally here for women to start taking the throne back from the boys, or at least being equal. BloodyJudas 2,758
Well so great of you to mention Cardi B and completely pay dust to Nicki Minaj who used to be ubiquitous. Well if truth be told, she’s still popular and successful and had 2 moderate top 10 Hits on Billboard 100 last year and also this year she welcomed the Billboard top 10 with Motorsport. Now Cardi B is a hot rookie so you’re kissing her boots and now Nicki is taking the back seat. Nicki has 15 top ten hits (she has more top 10 hits than Gaga and Katy), two number one albums and billions of streams combined. Super Bass is about to go diamond and a six-time-platinum Starships spent 21 weeks in the Billboard top ten, which is quite a feat. And I assure you she’ll get at least one top 10 hit song once her forthcoming album drops this year. That’s all I wanted to say and if you wish to include all of those successful artists from the past 10 years, don’t exclude one of the biggest music figures. And bear in mind that actually Nicki Minaj is a household name, whereas Cardi is local and we don’t know how long she’ll be on her winning streak. Nick has been winning consistently for the past ten years and that’s a fact and a number one single doesn’t mean anything. She has many top 5 hits and some of them are memorable. Demi and Selena are older pop girls though, from a different generation even if their careers weren't as big. Ariana is kinda in the middle of the decade, but still slays and bring talent

Let's not hype them up so quickly, it'll just result in hate when they don't do well. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡
Mister Gaga 22,930
The only pop girl to truly make some kind of impact since Gaga/Katy is Ariana, and you'll deal. (i'm not counting Lana, Adele, Lorde, etc; because we're talking strictly about pop girls).

So if Nicki is a fad, so is Gaga or Katy. Mark my words, honey, Cardi will be gone in two years' time just like Iggy. Actually, if we were to compare the stats, Gaga has spent ONLY one week on the Billboard top 10 with Million Reasons since 2013(solely thanks to the Super Bowl performance) and since then Nicki has dropped continuous top ten hits, such as Bang Bang, Anaconda, Motor Sport, Hey Mama, Side To Side and Rake It Up. She is far from being a has-been. She will prove it with her upcoming album, don't you worry about it and Pink Print is a three-time platinum album, unlike ARTPOP, Cheek To Cheek or Joanne. But still, if you insist on calling Nicki irrelevant nowadays, she should have been put in the same category with Gaga, Katy and the others mentioned above. Give someone a credit where it's due and don't be bitter. And do not misuse and mix words. Being a fad means being popular for a very short period of time so Nicki Minaj is far from being one, considering the fact she has been on a roll for almost a decade. So if anything, Cardi B may still fall into oblivion and become a fad. That's all.
