And the fact that specific phrase got into the song, got through editing and label management, and still got played shows intent. If not from Offset, then his peers. Mess. Love. You're implying that straight people might not be familiar with that word? You're kidding... The word queer has been used as a derogatory term for decades in this country by anti-gay straight people, targeting the LGBT community. I refuse to believe that a rapper did not know that queer was a derogatory term, especially after his previous homophobic remarks, and given that rap music has a homophobic history. And comparing social awareness to mathematics makes no sense. Math is a skill that one is taught. Being socially aware when it comes to human rights is something one should strive for by putting their predisposed biases and prejudices aside and understanding others struggles, validating their existence, and showing support. I won't be too harsh with her but their excuses are ridiculous. It's like they rushed to Dictionary.com to find a way out of this mess and made a story around that other definition of queer that NO ONE USES. *I should point out that they stretched that other definition to mean paparazzi-like stalker person* It's like saying you didn't know "Gay" means "Homosexual" and meant **** being "Happy" when you said, "**** being 'Gay." I get that she wants to defend him but this is only going to get her dragged by people. We all know that Cardi is not homophobic and is just slightly misinformed about some words. How about we learn to instead drag people to the ground for a mistake, we EDCUCATE THEM on how not to be ignorant in the future?
