People here in Costa Rica are FLIPPING over this. They gehys are happy af and te homophobia is at an all time high. Since we our undergoing our 2018 elections some presidential candidates have sworn to take Costa Rica out of the Court to avoid passing the marriage law. Hate is been spreading around like wildfire here. This is why I hate living in a extremely traditional and religious country smh.

the good thing is that our constitution explicitly says that the government HAS TO obey laws and rulings coming from higher judicial entities like this court. So, despite the hatred the government cannot repel equal marriage (whatsoever funny is that politicians say they will take the country out of the court but don’t know that the country can only be withdrawn a year after they announce their departure and every single ruling before they leave applies without exception, which goes to show how useless and mediocre Costa Rican politicians are)
